  1. Off the top of my head i don't think i did do any panel beating down there. Mine isnt mounted as far back because I'm already at the limits of the tailshaft yoke. If i go back any further it will kill the seal in the gearbox.
  2. Maybe the police will think its a 4a-c? Why don't you take out the sunroof and get a panel welded in if you are going to respray the body.
  3. Small update, had some time to work on the car. Had a friend cut and shut my struts by 40mm and weld the HSD coilover sleeves onto my ae86 struts. Went with 5kg springs and KYB MR2 Rear shocks. Also have xt130 control arms in, should really get off my ass and sell the sigmas. Had to do a at home wheel alignment was shocked how much toe there was after changing the arm. Wheels are back on as i had clearance issues with stock rims, RCAs and LCA combo. I decided to swap the rims around as the offset works better without any guard flaring. Took the car for an extended drive, pretty funny watching people trying to look for a done up car when you give it a little boot. (holy shit photobucket is slow for me today) Now I'm running a little positive camber.. maybe time for some NRCAs or a set of strut tops Time to wire up my lights and indicators.. going to be fun.
  4. Once ive done the coilovers ill make a transmission tunnel out of sheet metal to help with the heat and noise. After that i might drive the thing for a bit, ive paid rego twice on this car and driven it under 10 times.
  5. Cheers guys. I ended up getting some hoses off a mate who pretty much has his own parts shop in his garage lol. Cooler is sprayed and the brackets also, now the grill has to be secured permanently and thats finished. Time to get started on the coilovers i think. Still not 100% sure on what spring rate to go with. This car is only going to see street work so maybe 5.5kg will do some more reading up on it.
  6. It was only a matter of time before this thread got revived. Glad to see you found yourself a donor shell. I'm going to be keeping an eye on this thread.
  7. Spent some time today getting the frontmount sorted out, i can now fit the front grill on so thats a bonus. Tomorrow ill get some black paint and spray it, hope the weather holds up. Also have some xt130s on their way from SA, going to put them in when i do a front end coilover conversion then i can sell the sigma arms. Just a dummy fit, need to make up some new brackets for the cooler.
  8. That little turbo will be a monster on the CA What did the engine set you back?
  9. coming together, can imagine this is going to be very fun in auto form
  10. Good to hear its driving and your enjoying it. What did the rad set you back?
  11. Looks like it will be a fun car to drive when finished.
  12. Yeh i have the chrome bits for the front end in a box under the house, they will all go on when ive done a little panel beating to the bonnet chrome strip. I've been reading up and decided to do a coilover conversion on my struts, probably get the kit from HSD, there is a guy not too far from me that sells them. Will go with 5-6kg springs to make it more streetable just have to do some measuring when I'm home to find out how much to cut the struts down and get my friend to tig everything together. I assume i wont be able to run the stock camber tops but havent gotten that far into figureing it out, if i can get away with xt130s and standard tops ill do that for some time. Yeh car is still loved, i have an issue of trying and failing to juggle too many hobbies at once. Only a bit over 2 weeks till I'm home
  13. Ok, In Thailand now and ill be home in 3 weeks. Have seen a few nice KE s getting around here and its made me want to fix mine up. The plan when i get home is to start a new Job, Probably look into electrical apprentiship with a bigger firm comercial side of things. So if all that gets underway i will have some new updates coming on the corolla as the money allows. Things i want to do straight away. *Remount the FMIC so the grill fits on *Spray the FMIC black *Get some xt130 LCAs *Raise the car by 1-2 inches *Wire up my indicators so i can actually drive around. *Make up a Gearbox tunnel to stop the heat getting in the car. *Gear stick boot. Later down the line *New front rotors, bearings and some .. pads (having a mind blank about the pads i use) *Reco the Radiator and move the inlet and outlet for easier routing, fit Coolant temp sensor and water temp sensor into the top radiator tank. *Install my watertemp, oiltemp and oilpressure gauges properly into the dash. *Fit a diff out of something so i can jump on it and not snap axels Thats it for now but i will keep updating this as i remember more things otherwise they wont get done :P
  14. Just looked through the thread, looks great and gave me some ideas about how to mount my cooler a little further back into the car to avoid hacking up my grill.
  15. Looking good, Did you work out the tailshaft unis?
  16. Yeh dude I'm still alive, I'm currently in puerto escondido, Mexico. I had plans to sell up as I'm going to be traveling for another year or so but i decided against it. Have absolutly no idea what kinda of money i could of asked and before i knew it i was heading overseas. The thing is sitting around with rego and i have my dad starting it once every 2 weeks. I probably should of sold it now that i think about it.
  17. holy crap your avatar could give someone a seizure. When its got a fresh tank of fuel ill get my gf to record when i take it for a spin.
  18. i considered spraying the cooler, i don't mind it showing i drive the car once a month if I'm lucky. Will see how much attention it gets. With the fuel i remember seeing some octane booster at my old work, will just throw that in the tank for now. They are out of a jdm ae86, brakes struts discs. I had to run a 5mm spacer on the front cause the rcas cause the lca ball joints to touch the rim. (sigma arms) The brakes are ok but they wouldnt take kindly to any form of trackwork. I hope one day you will be ready to do another corolla. Cheers, Ive being following your progress aswell, makes mine look like cakewalk. Yeh its a fun car, I'm going to take it to my old workshop get it on the hoist and go over all the nuts and bolts again before i take it a longer drive or even at speed. Not having the car on the road for so long i forgot how nice it is just putting around in the old girl. Thanks for the comments.
  19. Took the car for a drive around the block. Note to self tighten up caliper bolts before driving off. :) Now its time to cleanup all the small things, get a headunit in there and chop up the grille to fit on with all the chrome bits that are missing. The shell came with a full tank of fuel, I'm not sure if its 98 or 91 cause there was valve saver stuff in the boot. Going to baby it for half a tank and get some 98 in there to start washing it out. Car feel very dosile, i don't think it likes old fuel and 10:1 comp.
  20. Thanks for the comments :y: Spent today knocking up a gearbox xmember Also finished off the engine bay wiring, need to charge up my battery and then cross my fingers. After i know it runs i will take some time to tidy up all the wiring and the rest of the interior.
  21. Put the battery box in, need to get a bit of rod and flatbar to hold the battery inplace and i put the fuel setup in just need to trim the wiring and get some more fuel hose. Hoping for a good day of work tomorrow.
  22. Wow i always manage to get side tracked. Ive been planning a trip in late jan to La, Mexico then heading to Spain and the rest of europe, didnt realise how much time that takes up. Got all the suspension swapped over and everything stripped out of the old shell ready for the tow truck to scrap it. Have to run the stock wheels till i mod the new guards also wired up the engine enough to get the car running, forgot how i had all the extras wired in so that will have to wait till i plug the lappy in. Still need to get the wiring tied up and in some conduit
  23. Ive used buttons in all my cars, my current doesnt have one but as soon as it needs changing its getting a exedy 5puck. I don't think they are too bad used to drive my cars daily in traffic, just need to get the sprung centre one. The unsprung ones are no good for daily stop start traffic.
  24. Just a quick update, Spent this week - Swapping the pedal boxes to run a hydraulic setup - Brake and clutch master - Brake line for ke55 master - Extra fuel line for the return - Engine, gearbox and crossmember - ae86 jdm struts, callipers and sigma LCAs - Cut the transmission tunnel for the shifter That's all i can think of at the moment. Still need to - Swap the jap diff for a BW - Make up a gearbox xmember - rewire the haltech Few pics, really need to stop using my phone camera is sucks. one man brake master bleed Engine in its final resting place Transmission tunnel cut, ended up flipping the shifter to avoid cutting or relocating the handbrake.
  25. This thing looks like a load of fun, The FC callipers with the MC will make the car stop great.
