  • 1 month later...

All starting to come together now! Big thanks to casey for the lend of the engine stand!

Picked up my heavy duty clutch today! Had some issues finding one the correct size so had to get one made up in the end as its 200mm instead of the standard 180mm...

Some pics!

Horse your horse there for a second mate!!!

You may be about to make the same mistake I did last year.

I'm assuming this clutch combo is for the K-T50?

On paper you can use a KMxx 200mm flywheel and a T18/AE71 200mm clutch kit (right spline for T50) and it will bolt up to the flywheel.........BUT, the T18/AE71 pressure plate WILL NOT FIT INSIDE A CABLE OPERATED K-T BELLHOUSING!!!! It fouls on the flat spot where the clutch fork come through.

This is the clutch kit you need for the K-T.....

Mine is the TYK-6280 HDB button clutch.

Cheers for that Si,

But I'm using a standard k50 box for the time being! That popped up cheaper then a T50 at the time so i went for that!

Haha ill Try my best dan! Anyone got an engine crane?

valve clearances set today, fitted flywheel and also clutch!

tried to bolt up the gearbox, but didn't have a spigot shaft to try and line it all up! so i cracked the shits and left it haha!

Gotta work out where to pick up a manifold vaccum for the dizzy too!

Hey buddy I've got a "clutch locating tool" you can borrow. Its an input shaft out of a busted k40, come round and grab it if you want. :jamie:

Cheers Si, Just rocked past josh's place and got one off him tho!

will the motor run ok without the vaccum advance on the dizzy or am i better off drilling & tapping a hole so i can put a vac advance in?

Yeah it'll run without it, just not the best.

I reckon its worth tapping a fitting into the manifold now while you have it off the engine. :jamie:

If you don't want to have to buy a tap etc then just take it to ranken and bond on the corner of George and Cimitere and they could do it for you.
