1G-GTE KE70 Posted March 3, 2005 Report Posted March 3, 2005 I have the money to get my car registered next week. I live in Brisbane (Moorooka). Does anyone know where I can get a Roadworthy and Mod Plate from? I bought my car in NSW and they don't have mod plates, you just need to carry the engineers certificate around with you. My brother is a mechanic and he has inspected it and it's all safe etc. But if there are small things that don't work that aren't dangerous (i.e. washer jets for windscreen etc) anyone know anyone that will tell me to fix it but still pass it? I mean everything is legit and safe and i'm pretty sure everything works (except for those damn washer jets haha). but yeah I've got the engineers certificate and I'm getting a Gas certificate this tuesday arvo so does anyone know where I can get a roadworthy/mod plate from? I think i repeated myself about 300 times then. Thanks guys Quote
1G-GTE KE70 Posted March 3, 2005 Author Report Posted March 3, 2005 will they pass it even if like washer jets and small stuff like that doesn't work? I'm pretty sure everything works except for them... I hope. Quote
Teddy Posted March 3, 2005 Report Posted March 3, 2005 just fix the water jets if you think its a problem :D - its such a small thing anyway lol Quote
1G-GTE KE70 Posted March 3, 2005 Author Report Posted March 3, 2005 that's the only thing i can think of that is wrong. but like if car height or something is wrong do they reject it? because my car needed a new sump it has like a big roll cage style bash gaurd around it that may be a bit too low to the ground (i don't think so but maybe) do they check that? I just want it passed and then I will fix all the stuff later. Quote
irokin Posted March 3, 2005 Report Posted March 3, 2005 Be aware they are cracking down on dodgy roadworthies. If the place that does your roadworthy gets convicted you will be called upon to present your car for reinspection. Washer jets? don't be a tool and fix it. Its small, easy to fix so just do it. 1G-GTE KE70 Posted March 3, 2005 Author Report Posted March 3, 2005 4 weeks is fine. I know about the washer jets and obviously am going to get them fixed, but if anything else i haven't noticed doesn't work i don't want to have to go away then come back. but yeah I'll call that place tomorrow Grim Quote
1G-GTE KE70 Posted March 4, 2005 Author Report Posted March 4, 2005 fixed washer jets. no oil leaks. all lights working. all doors open lock and unlock. all windows work. what else do i need to check? i'm pretty sure everything is fine. Quote
irokin Posted March 4, 2005 Report Posted March 4, 2005 All your gearbox mounts, engine mounts, Diff link mount, basically any rubber mounting that could be perished will make your car defective (ive got a list as long as my arm for the celica....) But one stop are dodgy as they come so you wont have any problems.... Quote
demuire Posted March 4, 2005 Report Posted March 4, 2005 Hmm, we're gonna need a roady for the new wagon too... Yay for rust! Quote
1G-GTE KE70 Posted March 5, 2005 Author Report Posted March 5, 2005 i was under my car for a few hours with about 30 cans of brake clean cleaning all the shit off from under my car and checking for oil leaks and 'broken' things. couldn't find any thankfully. I reckon it will pass pretty easily. Quote
Redwarf Posted March 6, 2005 Report Posted March 6, 2005 You will need to get your blue plate from an engineer, roadworthy places very often do not have the ability to do these. Your NSW engineers unfortunately don't mean much in Qld, but it can't hurt to take it along, as the Qld engineer has to be happy with the conversion. I assume that engine and box ( and possibly brakes?) will need to be done. (LA1, LB1, LD1). I think you'll find that a friendly roadworthy may be hard to get as your car will have to go to Queensland Transport, and I know they're on the war path atm. Good Luck! Quote
1G-GTE KE70 Posted March 7, 2005 Author Report Posted March 7, 2005 yeah i've check absolutely everything. the only thing that doesn't work is the hazards but i'm fixing them this arvo. it should be sweet! Quote
