what 5 speed would be best for KE35 2 door??

would i have to get speedo re adjusted??

Adjust the speedo yes and you'd want one from a KE55, NOT A KE70 othewise you'll need to cut a hole in the floor for the shifter.

Or if you can get a KE55 5 speed extension housing, you can swap it onto the KE70 and it will line up no problems.

Sorry to hijack thread, but once you do have the new gearbox, how do you go about setting up the speedo? Does it all connect up or do you need to get a custom cable made up?

All connects up - may not be accurate though.

 

Personally I'd go for the KE70 box because I felt that the shifter was in a better position when compared to the KE55 box.

You'd be able to use the ke55 speedo gear drive (or what ever its called thats in the gearbox), yes ?

Things that change your speedo's whack is...

Changing gearbox (4 to 5 speedo or vice versa)

Changing rim/tire size/profile

Changing diff

 

Its not that bad once you know how much more/less you have to drive.

i would have thought changing from a k40 to a k50 wont change your speed reading - it will read off the output shaft so will stay the same, and it would be unlikely they run different drive gears etc.
