I work in South Melbourne (about 10mins from the albert park track) and could hear every gear change. Awsome sound!! Considering i'm 10 mins from the track and have heaps of high rise buildings in between, i can only only imagine what they are like up close.

Not to mention the 2 FA-18's flying over, now that is noisy. Those things shook the factory.

CART TOP SPEEDS

According to the Omega Timing site (omegatiming.com), the fastest

: trap speed during the Fontana race was 245.528 mph (395.14 km/h)

: by Jimmy Vasser.

: Last year at Michigan, Paul Tracy recorded a trap speed of

: 256.948 mph (413.52 km/h). The same site gives Adrian

: Fernandez a trap speed of 333 mph, but that *has* to be an error.

: The top trap speed at this year's Michigam 500 was 249.018 mph

: (400.76 km/h) recorded by Richie Hearn. With a Ford motor :D

F1 TOP SPEEDS

The new (1999) record for F1 is 361.8 km/h = 100.5 m/s by David Coulthard at Monza. The highest lap average speed was 251.990 km/h by Mika Hakkinen during qualifying. This is still slower than the old Rosberg record (Silverstone, 1985: 258.983 km/h).

BTW, the modern F1 cars are faster than the +1300HP turbo cars of the 1986 qualifying sessions, which reached about 343 km/h at Monza

LE-MANS TOP SPEEDS

The highest speed recorded in an European race was at Le Mans:

The record for top speed in a closed circuit used to be hold by a WM at Le Mans (when Les Hunaudieres was still a 5 km long straight). at about 405-407 Km/h

exspensive toys

haha stick am indy car and f1 side by side with similar aero and the f1 will be faster.. they are lighter and now have more power :D

the f18s are loud.... but the f1s louder... prob cause of the pitch.

weather sucked today, so i didnt get many pics....

about the minardis... I'm disgusted at their behaviour... they changed their cars overnight... so they could have been ready with out all the bullshit.

sato has an oops

williams specs

toyota at speed

dream field.....

minardi in the wet

unfortunatly my digi doesnt have the zoom neede, but the full size originals look good :D

after qual it looks to be an interesting race... shumi will be well down! so there will be a good fight back i think

shumachers position now depends how tomorrows qualifying lap pans out. He could still come back strong. Certainly not pole unless everyone bombs out big time

.....BUT GO MARK!!!!

oh man this is good. The teams are playing FIA for fools. I thought the rule changes were destroying the sport....and my suspicians have been confirmed with the first 2 drivers that were supposed to be qualifying completing an out lap then coming back in having completed NO qualifying lap (basically scrubbing tyres and checking the engine installation on Ferrari 1).... stupid FIA fools

Then with the engine change, aero and tyre rule changes which were designed to SAVE money the teams went away over the off season and spent even more money on development and trying to figure out how to get these cars to handle with less aero, having one set of tyres to last a race and make an engine bulletproof enough to last two 18,000rpm engine killing race meetings....
