I'm trying to find out what gearbox i have in my wagon and if there;s short shifter's around for them. I was driving up and down the street today and i noticed while in 4th it's really squishy. Anyways is there some way i can tell what box it is?

umm pretty sure a 5 speed k box is k50 and a 4speed is a k40. what k engine though

It's a 4k with a 5 speed, is there any markings on the box somewhere?

The box code is k50. As stated in previous post. don't think there are any markings on the box stating this though.

if it's the late model K gearbox you can use a T50(AE86) short shifter

 

plenty of people making/selling those, but most of them are LHD as far as I know..

it will fit anyway but the shifter will be located more to the passenger side, but I guess you could just bend it a few degrees

As stated, a KE70 5 speed will work with any T50 short shifter of which there several options including the aforementioned TRD one but expect to pay around the $250 mark.

 

If its a KE55 5 speed, custom is going to be the way.
