Did a quick photochop for you, made it look more like a car again. Wheels & tyres aren't even close to perfect, did them last and cbf getting them 100%. But that's how your car would look with SSR Forumla Mesh all around (big improvement), I borrowed Roo's rims for the chop but I think he'll see it was for a good cause.

A possible option for standard AE71 struts by way of a shorter stroke shock is VOLKSWAGEN - Golf (Series I & III), Convertible 79-93 Front VOLKSWAGEN - Golf (Series I), Hatchback 73-8/83 Front According to the Monroe catalogue they share the same body diameter but about 60mm shorter in stroke. Not the most ideal though as I doubt they'd be any/much stiffer than stock ones.

Can I do the same? It'd be handy to have.

Small port igniters have 5 wires.... Give me a part no. and I'll tell you if its the right one.

K50 Front Oil Seal And How To Inspect Condition?
Golberg replied to Tally's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
If its anything like a T50 its REALLY easy to do.... but I've never looked properly at a K50 to know. On a T50 its just undo the 4 bolts which hold in the piece which fits over the input shaft, slide it off, pop the seal out of it put another in and slide it back on. -

TE72's have the 20 spline output, but have the rear shifter position, I mean they share the chassis as KE70 and AE71's and as such the same shifter position. By far the easiest way to get a KE70 running with an A series motor is to get a K50 box from a Jap AE85. They still run a cable clutch so no messing around with pedal boxes etc. One of the sponsors on DC has one I think, although they wont take that much, might just survive with a stock 16v 4AGE.

Just out of interest, would I be right in saying that's a Kouki JDM AE86?

Haha, nice idea. Yes my sexy 71 will allure all :D (EDIT - for all those wondering, its neither of the 2 in my avatar) Sadly my street isn't really cut out for a huge group of corollas, but if you're actually keen to see it Kevin feel free to drop by I'll more than likely be home. Otherwise, if you've still got my number Kevin, send me a txt when you guys are in the harbour and I'll come down and say hello although not in a rolla.

There was talk of going to Cordeaux Dam along the way on this cruise. Whatever the case, I wont be there, car got totally raped by inspectors, no rego for while.
-
I'm not 100% I'll end up making it... I'll probably come up to the dam so long as my car passes blue slip on Friday and I can get the rego done in time. Fingers crossed it'll pass, I have a feeling the exhaust may be too loud though.

I can make up a loom long distance if you want, all you'll need to do is collect all the pieces required then mail them to me. Then I mail the whole lot back, then you plug it in and go. Not sure I'm super keen to do it, doing one for a guy in Tassie at the moment, but so long as is a completely standard 4AGE install I'll probably do it. PM me if you're interested.

I think you'll find nobody makes an off the shelf adaptor for a 4AFE just because its not a common engine to do up. That there adapter looks to me to be an APEX Engineering 4AGE bigport ITB adaptor.

I personally hate the after market systems, find them to be pretty rubbishy in most instances. I did however find that with a few slight mods and some thinking I could fit a complete factory AE92 central locking system into an AE71/KE70, using all the AE92 latches and electronics. Now I'm guessing you aren't putting it into an E7 but something to think about none the less.

I'm going to do something different and not comment on the car. :no2: Well what actually caught my eye was your sig.... I am very close friends with a certain somebody whom has been through a period of that, she's not so bad now though thankfully. Its the kind of stuff you see in movies, but would blow everybody's minds if they actually knew what it was like.

Ke Diff Needed Sydney -/sutherland Borg Warner Type.
Golberg replied to TE278U's topic in NSW / Sydney
Might be an idea to specifiy what type of KE also. -
Dragging it up again sorry, but I think I can add a bit more. I scoured the RTA's documents for a while several months ago and found nothing about power increases... I mean sure it makes logical sense that there be a restriction like that, but if they don't state it, it usually means it doesn't exist. I guess maybe the inference is that can you really get THAT much more power with only a bolt in 15% capacity increase?? Evidently yes but there can't be that many cars where it works, in most instances it'll require custom mounts which imediately means engineering is necessary. I looked at 3 different places to get my engine number changed, 2 said that only a blueslip was required, 1 said engineering was required. As far as I'm concerned if the engine number is on the papers and they've given it the OK stamp you're entirely legal. It is also obviously important that your insurance company knows what is going on. I mean seriously whats going to really happen? You crash the car big time, injure some people, damage some property... then what? For some reason you're up for extra charges because you're engine has 100% more power than stock? Oh and who allowed you to do that? It was the RTA.... Well why not just engineer it? if you're like myself and also the person who started this thread you'll know that being on P plate's almost entirely = no fun with cars. If the bonnet of my car was lifted and a copper spied a nice big mod plate for an engine change I'm quite possibly up shit creek. I'm not an irresponsible driver, I just wanted a project car which I could learn on and attempt something as big as an engine conversion whilst I have plenty of time to do so. It would be pretty sad to go and build the thing then get to the end and not be able to drive it.... You've gotta love this too "Vehicles – You must not drive any vehicle with: * Modifications that increase engine performance." Not once have the RTA actually given me a straight answer to what that means, although I have been told by them that swapping in a different engine doesn't come under this rule. The vagueness of the RTA and their loose rules is just pathetic for the size of the organisation. If for some reason I was ever pinged for something related to my driving a 4AGE AE71 I think I'd have reasonable grounds to take it to court. Sorry, I get carried away when talking about the RTA, endless frustration.

Hell yeah!! I should definitely have my car on the road by then. And you're even going to come to me  Count me in.

Love the brown, I really wish my AE71 was that brown.

Well one tip, you can make new rear arches by cutting up some front guards and welding the arch in. But I guess ultimately you can "fix" all rust with bog but don't expect it to last more than about 6 months before it bubling back out. Do it properly, do it once. Please don't cut the springs though, really bad idea. If you hunt around on the forums you'll find suspension packages for really good prices. I got a set of lowered springs for $50 then went to a wrecking yard and got some commo wagon rears for $18.

AE71 doesn't split like the TE72 one. AE86 front half is your best bet.
-
Sounds like a good car, its interesting that it came with aircon, I was under the impression that it was only found in CS-X's (I've had 3 CS-X's and they all had aircon). And get rid of those mudflaps quickly, they really help the car to rust in the rear arches.
-
If there are rust bubbles inside the car in the corners of windscreen just above the dash.... run, run far far away
-
I was under the impression that it was moreso about the fact that in NSW you are allowed to increase the engine capacity by up to 15% so long as it doesn't involve any custom mounts/fabrication etc. And if you follow that engineering is not neccesary. Now with an AE71 to 4AGE you aren't increasing the capacity by going 4AGE so there is no issue. Just bolt the engine up, take it to get the engine number changed and you're good to go. This is certainly not the case in Victoria, but its perfectly acceptable in NSW.

Your best bet is a TA22 Celica T50, they have the forward shifter location.
