ALL-W3T Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 hi all, My auto 4k kE70 Is running like crap at the moment, did a service: New dizzy cap Rotor button Points Air cleaner Put all vacum hoses back to factory (got diagram off here) Problem now is. runs alittle warmer (just over half way) No midrange power. Fuel consumption went through the roof. I need to know the following: 1.is there a way i can test the blue temp sensitive vac valve looking thing with the hoses going to it? 2.Whats the point gap sposed to be? 3.can't run a timing light on it as the 2 marks on balancer are round 90deg away frm the indicator, car stalls when i try to move dizzy around to line one of them up. Any feeback would be great thanks guys. Todd. Quote
Taz_Rx Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 Are you looking at marks on the front of the bulley or at the back of it? Quote
ALL-W3T Posted October 20, 2008 Author Report Posted October 20, 2008 Did not know there was back marks, please tell. Quote
Taz_Rx Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 Have another look with the timing and look at the back of the pulley on top of the ridge behind the belt. That is where the timing mark is to be found. Quote
ALL-W3T Posted October 20, 2008 Author Report Posted October 20, 2008 will check it out. ANY Ideas on theother questions? Quote
corolla_nut Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 How do the spark plugs look? They may be fouled. Points gap, by the manual, is 0.45mm Quote
philbey Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 Sounds like too much advance. Double check the marks like mentioned. Quote
ALL-W3T Posted October 21, 2008 Author Report Posted October 21, 2008 Thanks for feedback guys. I was under the impression that if it was too advanced it would ping? Also brought a new set of plugs, guy told me they are resistor type cause they didnt hav normal ones in stock. Will this make a difference? Quote
OniBerserker Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 3.can't run a timing light on it as the 2 marks on balancer are round 90deg away frm the indicator, car stalls when i try to move dizzy around to line one of them up. are you running the motor at 800rpm when you use the timing light? Quote
Trev Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 Have you got the timing light direction going the right way, I have seen it reversed and believe me it puts you off. Quote
ALL-W3T Posted October 21, 2008 Author Report Posted October 21, 2008 What do you mean direction of timing light? I though you point and shoot? Also, how can i check the dizzy is in the right way? Or dosent it matter? Quote
Redwarf Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 The first thing you need to do is ignore the two marks on the front of the pulley. They are not timing marks. You are looking for a notch in the rear, top of the pulley. This is your timing mark. Put the gun on it, set your timing properly, then get back to us. Quote
Taz_Rx Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 What do you mean direction of timing light? I though you point and shoot? Also, how can i check the dizzy is in the right way? Or dosent it matter? The lead that you clip onto spark plug lead #1 should have a little arrow to show the direction of spark flow. Arrow needs to point towards the spark plug, not the dizzy. Quote
