Just wondering on whats a good Throttle Body to up-grade too?

I'm not very familair with this so any help would be great, or a point in the right direction as i have no idea where to look or what for :P

Can you measure the ID of it?

And what you mean ID? bolt pattern? size of the butterfly? the opening? sorry I'm a newb at this TB stuff

ID = Internal diametre

OD = Outer diametre

Also, what's the diametre of the piping between TB and SC, SC and inlet?

Well ID is about 43mm OD is like 46mm? if i measured the right part lol.

And all the piping is 2" pipe.

 

Got 2" pipe from charger to TB, and 2" from charger to intake manifold

I don't think there would be any point in making the TB any bigger than the piping you have, so yeah maybe look around for a 2" throttle body off something.

All you would need is the TB with a TPS, or you might even be able to mod the 4ke one onto another TB. No big deal either way as they're easy to wire and calibrate.

Just have a hunt around the wreckers one day with a tape measure and find something good, but cheap.

Actually do you know if it uses an ICS (idle control solenoid)? gimme a pic of the throttle body area and I should be able to tell you.

 

The first thing that I would up-grade in that setup though would be the ECU. Go up to atleast a Digi 1 or 2 with ignition control. :P

Yeah was thinking that, but i don't wanna spend huge amounts on a ecu.. a couple hundred be ok i guess.. got any particular ones in mind?

 

Might go for a run out to the wreckers today and have a looky for a TB.

Honestly the best person to talk to about an ECU would probably be Nick!

He buys digi's off ebay all the time, so he might have something left for you.

Funny that, he said the D5 in my setup is fine :P

 

Then again i think it was a semi budget build so the D5 came well under budget id pressume :)

Yeah the D5 is fine it the fact that it "works".......but have you noticed how you adjust it FFS!?

 

And its fuel only, so getting something that will also control your ignition with boost retard will make a bit of difference.

Yeah, and the limiter sucks on the D5, fuel cut one. i tried it out, f@$ken nose dives into the ground when you hit it!!! :P

what is 4k efi worth?

 

is it just the 7k stuff put onto the 4k?

 

and how hard is it to come by. thinking i might have to buy myself a setup. and by have to i mean want to.

seeing as there would be less complications reguarding over-boosting and fuel pooling and so on.

 

on the ecu setup, how would a megsquirt ecu go you think? they're on the cheap if your handy with a soldering iron

Oh and 4ke and 7ke setups are completely different. 7ke is much better....that's why I'm using it.

 

Pretty much any ECU could run either if its wired and tuned correctly.

thats a decent price for it.

 

And i think the 4ke looks cooler, but looks aint important though haha.

 

Id go a 7ke setup if i got more serious about building a monster K motor. but I'm happy with me 4ke supercharged 4k lol. anywho, off to the wreckers... TB hunting lol
