Heya everyone,

 

I was driving around randomly today and came across a KE70 wagon parked on the street, It's out of rego but still has plates on it. I left a note on it asking if they wanted to sell the whole thing or just some parts off it. It's not parked out the front of any houses either and doesn't look like any ones touched it for a while too. So I'm wondering if there's any way of contacting the owner, like ringing vic roads and asking them.

Anyone got any suggestions?

In QLD you can request the owner's details from dept of transport... costs $$ though

Watch it for a few weeks, see what happens, Its not legal as such, but if it stays for a week or two, gets a tow away sticker on it, go grab it, who is going to question you picking up your car because the notice says so?

Do it soon before some little shit comes up and smashes the crud out of it. Its Friday night :)

I say breaking the law to save a rolla in need or parts from a rolla in need isn't such a bad thing providing it actually is dumped :)

If you want to try obtain it legitimately, get the vin/chassis numbers from the rego sticker and contact Vicroads and request a vehicle ID check. That at least will confirm if the car is dumped etc.

i asked my dad who works for vic-roads and he said they will not give out the information of people who own cars. it's a privacy thing. if you really want the car/parts do your own research. do a couple of door knocks in the immediate area, ask if the know who owns it or how long it has actually been there. you may be surprised.

Buggar, I wanna buy the plates from a guy who apparently drives a Jag around the Gold Coast. His plates read JiP-02. They're the plates that I'm missing.

Guys i had a friend run a stolen vehicle check on it through Vic roads. Its not stolen just abandoned. Now you need to contact your local council and see what deal you can work with them . Do not tow it or help urself, it is still considered as theft

I know in Adelaide the local wrecker has a contract with the council to tow and store all dumped cars: they drag them to their yard and they have to sit there for 3 months to give the owner option to collect. If noone takes it it goes to the wrecker and it's theirs.

 

Your council will have a similar arrangement, if you can find out where they end up you can start buttering them up...
