JiP Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 If your boot is full of dust check for places it could be getting in. Like the plugs in the wheel well, boot seal, seals around your tail lights, seals around your rear vents and maybe even the black fireproofing sheet behind the back seat. (If its there) Jason KE30 is sending me something. Can you get the buckle to him to place inside the parcel?? As for the antenna, is there any sign showing that you previously had an antenna on your "A" pillar?? And why did you have early KE30 seats with an early buckle?? I'm keen to know what else it may have. Quote
Tume Posted January 22, 2009 Author Report Posted January 22, 2009 I know how the dust is getting into the boot..because of the rust. Ie I can see the ground through it, its the hole shown in a picture above. I'll see when I'm seeing any of that crowd again, should be able to though. The buckle is because I replaced the KE55 seat with one from a 30 at upi. I actually have the KE55 seats and buckles, it is an actual KE55 :P . So one seat is a brown while the other is white vinyl. It is why seat covers were invented imo :( . As for the antenna there is no sign that it was ever attached to the A pillar. However when I get the car repainted I may move it to the pillar as I don't like where it is now. Both front guards will probably be replaced if I can find some without rust. On another note, do people know if locksmiths can create a key to suit your lock? When I bought the car it had no boot lock as KJ couldn't find it, but there is one on the spare boot I was given and I'm curious if I can use it? (if I can find where my mum put the damn thing). A good locksmith will make all the keys match or even just cut a key without a pattern, corollas came with 2 keys one did just the doors and ignition the other did all of the locks Quote
Tume Posted January 26, 2009 Author Report Posted January 26, 2009 After running out of fuel today going to the servo :hmm: . I have figured out the mileage to be around 550-600... Not sure if thats good or not for a 4K but I'm happy with it. Quote
Jason KE30 Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 (edited) that's wicked economy for a 40ish litre tank! and sucked in you broke down!! :hmm: Edited January 26, 2009 by Jason KE30 Quote
Tume Posted January 26, 2009 Author Report Posted January 26, 2009 Pretty sure its a 55l tank? lol and worst part was it happened right in front of an old enemy's place aswell. Not far from home but not exactly close to the petrol station I was going to.. found out later the parents had used it to go get the paper and some other things. Quote
Murd 55 Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 it is a 50 litre tank, thats what my owners manual says anyways, i was always under the assumption it was 45 thou. Quote
JiP Posted January 27, 2009 Report Posted January 27, 2009 I've always thought it is 40 lts from F to E then 10 ltrs from E to not moving. Quote
Tume Posted January 27, 2009 Author Report Posted January 27, 2009 I dunno then. Thought my manual said 55 but I might be thinking of the Sigma. I know that when the tank is completely full that its under F still, maybe because of the gauges that are in there. As when its empty is under the E aswell. This is why usually I have a book I fill out whenever I fill up, so I have some safeguard not to run out. Can't be 40 though as I checked my booklet and the most I have put into it is 50.3l back when the fuel was 99c a litre for a while. . Quote
bmxsexmonkey Posted January 27, 2009 Report Posted January 27, 2009 sedan and hardtop = 50litres wagon = 47litres thats what it says in my manual :D Quote
Tume Posted February 14, 2009 Author Report Posted February 14, 2009 DAMNN!!!!!! Ok so carby has been playing up and since I have a carby kit laying around for it I decided to do it tonight. Got home and opened the bonnet, left it for half an hour so it would be cool enough to start getting the carby out. Half an hour later started taking off the carby, removing throttle, choke and then fuel line..... THE FUEL LINE HAS SNAPPED! So I'm going to be here sitting and praying that Lexxi comes on soon so I can see if I can go over and flog one off one of her spares. IF not then Dad is going to have to go to upi tomorrow while I'm at work and grab one for me... Anyhow, after tea I shall still go and get the carby kit run through...I'm NOT GOING TO ALL THIS EFFORT FOR NOTHING! Atleast not much fuel came out...so far. Quote
trav_555 Posted February 15, 2009 Report Posted February 15, 2009 thats unlucky man, did ya get a new line? Quote
Tume Posted February 15, 2009 Author Report Posted February 15, 2009 Yeah last night I ran a rebuild kit through the carby replacing all the parts. Today went down to u pull it and got a fuel line for $2. Put it in, started her up and shes running beautifully. A lot better then she was before seeing as before if it wasn't hot enough it would either stall or with the choke pulled out idle at ridiculous speed. As if it was trying to break the sound barrier. Getting new rims for it soon and then starting on the interior and rust removal. Quote
trav_555 Posted February 15, 2009 Report Posted February 15, 2009 thats what mine does if it isnt hot! I'm gonna have to upgrade my carby soon i think as my corolla chews threw the fuel, like a 1/4 of a tank in half an hour!!!! very expensive car.... good to hear yours is running well though :P Quote
Tume Posted February 16, 2009 Author Report Posted February 16, 2009 Ok. Some new things. Firstly: When I go along dirt roads my boot and cabin get full of dust, I know that the boot does because I can see through to the ground where the rust is, but in the cabin how do I manage to get the vents NOT to have dirt flying through them. This would be handy aswell for when I'm running the heater and having cold air still coming in. Also have decided that in a month the corolla is getting pulled off the road to have the interior and exterior all done which means after I get some wheels no more spending money on this, instead needing to spend money to get other car back on the road (hopefully not too much money).
