Nitephyre Posted April 12, 2005 Report Posted April 12, 2005 Well, thanks to JAMIE and his sweeping out of the garage, i've decided to once again have a go at doing up the panelvan. :blinks: THIS time it's going to be functional, i'm planning to have a go at some sort of racing in it. Eventually. No, really I mean it... ;) It seems others here have a good time being out of pocket and spending little time with loved ones... (uh, I mean having an absolutely f@$king fantastic time belting around, dickwaving and fixing things when they break! :D) I'm planning to get the engine rebuilt or at least freshened up around the cam and pistons i've bought. I'll probably go and visit Mr Frawley again, this time with a slightly better understanding of what I want, and some specs which he can build around/for. Stupidly, I threw out the Holley I had lying around, because we were moving and at the time I didn't think i'd need it again, so i'm on the hunt for a suitable carby. :D The 5K in my old yellow rolla had a 32/36 DGV Weber on it, and I really liked the sound and power it gave the engine. I'll also be after some extractors. Oh, and any tips from the Gods on anything i'll need to know would be sweet. Specs: 4K with soon to get: - ACL 040 oersize pistons - Waggott 212 grind camshaft - no smoke :D Body needs rust repair, TLC and grey Hammertone respray (wishing there) Electrics need looking at, instrument cluster no worky, lights etc.. (HOOray) Cobra racing seat - Blue  Race-spec interior (IE: f@$k all ;)) Let The Party Begin  Cheers, Matt :D Quote
Nitephyre Posted April 12, 2005 Author Report Posted April 12, 2005 Nah I haven't picked the stuff up from Jamie yet Nicko, and the exhaust etc is a given I'll also be after some extractors. :D :blinks: Hmm, it shouldn't be THAT much different from the 5K. It had extractors, 2" exhaust, 32/36 and it hauled nicely off the mark for essentially a stock motor, but maybe our definitions are different? /me looks @ Rob.. Anything "spare" mate  Quote
Xany Posted April 12, 2005 Report Posted April 12, 2005 my 5k has still only got the single row timing chain and it works fine.....however the dual one prolly would last longer and be less prone to stretchage. Quote
Nitephyre Posted April 16, 2005 Author Report Posted April 16, 2005 Whelp, I picked up my goodies today, Cheers Jamie :wootjump: Wonder if he'll notice other bits 'missing' :) Time to go and get quotes etc on the rebuild :S Quote
Super Jamie Posted April 17, 2005 Report Posted April 17, 2005 haha i swear i had a whole registered ke25 around here somewhere :S consider getting your engine machining done somewhere, but built it yourself. you'll save heaps on labour. if i did it, anyone can always good to hear another corolla project see the light of day :wootjump: Quote
Nitephyre Posted April 24, 2005 Author Report Posted April 24, 2005 :P i'm thinking again that maybe i should get a 4K-E setup instead of carb(s)... how do you reckon that'd go with my cam/pistons jamie? plus after looking in the 4K-ZE thread... ;-) Quote
Super Jamie Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 efi certainly would make tuning your fuel delivery alot easier, not to mention giving the thing a buttload more torque, smoothness and driveability down low. i reckon it would go well :P Quote
Nitephyre Posted April 25, 2005 Author Report Posted April 25, 2005 rightio then... i think i'll put the search party out then.. :P /me pokes nick or warren WTB 1x 4K-E setup :D Quote
Nitephyre Posted April 26, 2005 Author Report Posted April 26, 2005 (edited) eh you know who i meant.. *prods warwick* sorry man.. :D oh, btw i'm posting your calendar today :kiwi: also, if anyone has any spare KE70 instrument clusters on the cheap, pref a tacho one that'd be nice, as i think mine is stuffed.. i could get it fixed, but a tacho one would be nicer :y: Edited April 26, 2005 by NiteP]-[yRe Quote

Nitephyre Posted April 29, 2005 Author Report Posted April 29, 2005 (edited) heh cheers mate, what've you done to yours? i tried selling it but then finally decided to keep it and have another go at doing it up... slowly gathering cheap second hand parts to get me started :D mikey, you're stateside aint you? how much you wanting? is it with computer/injectors etc etc? cheers :D Edited April 29, 2005 by NiteP]-[yRe Quote
mikeys toy[RL] Posted April 29, 2005 Report Posted April 29, 2005 not sure if this is ontopic or not; but forgive me if is isn't, not sure about the injectors yes i have ONE spare computer you are on your own for a pump and lines the main relay is shot NO airflow meter no harness i do however have a schematic of the 4ke starlet it would be late june before i go back to california to get my Cricket (hillman avenger) so if you're not in a hurry............ yes I'm in the u.s. Nitephyre Posted May 6, 2005 Author Report Posted May 6, 2005 Update Time... So, unfortunately i've found out that i can't use the pistons as they're stuffed.. too worn.. Such is 2nd hand :P They'll probably make a cool ornament of some kind, so i'll probably polish 'em up or some shit.. one day mr frawley is also going to give the cam a good measurement, cause it's started life as a Waggot 212 grind, but somewhere along the line has been re-profiled as the measurements don't match the spec sheet. Hopefully it's still usable, else i'll be making a mobile out of it and the pistons :D But nevermind, if it seems I can't use the parts, i've found something that gives me VERY bad ideas... all i'll say is ke70 panelvan + V8 = omgwtfbbq :) which reminds me, is there any sort of program that can help you work out power - weight ratios etc? *sigh* cars are fun!
