hey all, i want to start getting some body work done on my wagon but i really do need a new front passeger door as this one has been banged up pretty bad, and then someones tryed to fix it and has kinda made it worse by the looks of it.

 

so I'm basically after a whole new door, or iv been told that ke20 doors make good doner panels for the ke26 doors...????

 

unless anyone noes of some overrated ke26 front doors for the 4door ?? guessing thats pretty unlikely,

 

so what do think i should do???? i want your expert help & advise please fellow rollaclubians! ???

taking on that door on your own is alot of work.

 

ke20 doors wont fit, unless its a 4dr ke20.

 

get a dolly, a hammer and spend the next month straightening it, then a light coat of bog will work.

ok na i wont be doing any of the body work myself, iv got a mate thats a panel beater an sprayer an that, he does a good job with the welder an that,

 

I'm just seeing what people think would be the best way to repair it,

 

i guess ill just leave it with him an see what he can work.

You will need a very experienced panel beater to get those out. You have dents (easy) ripples (difficult) and creases (difficult). They would be pulled out with a stinger (a gun that welds rods to the sheet metal) and shrunken smooth with an blowtorch/shrinking hammer/wet rag/slap file.

 

Or you can just go for the ol' bash and bog which will add a few kgs to your car :y:

you may be able to get a talented sheet metal worker / coachbuilder to roll / fold a new door skin for you.

 

it's not that complex a shape, and will save a bit of labour.

hmmm some good ideas there, ye I'm tossing up between getting a new sheet of metal made or gettin my mate to panel beat the fark out of it weld it ect.

also you could try getting a door shipped from far eastern aussie (kiwiland) where ke20's were all four door's.

 

might get lucky and get some cheap shipping too.

 

may be cheaper than fixing the old one.

I have a looked at a Ke20 door compared to a Ke26 and they have the same body lines so you would be able to take the skin of a Ke20 door and put it onto a Ke26 frame but obviously shorten the skin. I hope this makes sense. Good luck

ye my mate does have way skills bra hahah but ye he said it is a big job... ye I'm thinkin that getting a ke20 door and transplanting it onto the ke26 door might be a good idea... I'm just going to toss up the prices an see whats the best.
