  1. Still chipping away at it, thanks for your kind words. :) Current to do list: -Fix collapsed silicon hoses, on the cheap: push pipe bends into the silicone hoses as an internal sleeve. Or maybe tig weld solid pipes. -Replace leaky water pump (I know, I should have done it when the engine was out). Lots of fun and games with the 4agze s/c in the road. -Runs a bit lean it's hard to get the engine started unless I open the flap a little on the AFM. Getting combustion usually requires some priming of the fuel as well. -Fuel prime missile switch wired from diagnostics box (When all hope is lost, remember, Jaycar still loves you. :laff:) -Front suspension: shocks are short stroke tokico items with the adjustable damper, but are bottoming out on both ends. I'm thinking longer ae92 shocks and possibly taller 6kg springs for the coilover setup if theres any problems (current size is 200mm). -Engine is a little slanted. Initially When I fabbed the mounts, I expected the rubber shish kebabs to slop a little. They didn't. I'm thinking of taking the rubber shish kebabs out and maybe one of the machinists at work can do me a favour and take some meat off each end. I have a strut brace but it hit's the inlet pipe and requires the engine to sit a bit more level by a few bees' dicks. -Tail shaft. -Stainless braided brake and clutch hoses. -Take a second mortgage.
  2. What he said. It will look more factory and you save a few grams weight :lolcry: This is my favorite build on rc atm. I thought I had it tough. :P
  3. That thing looks pretty menacing. :hbang:
  4. Everything is condensed into a video. Fast forward to 3:35 if you want to skip to the newer pics. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEiAtIyC7j4&feature=share Engine is running! *does backflips*
  5. If you're going for a more racy look: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/TOYOTA-COROLLA-KE10-KE20-25-KE30-35-KE70-DOOR-MIRROR-v7-/310318008830?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item48406509fe or http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/MIRRORS-VITALONI-CALIFORNIA-FERRARI-PANTERA-LOTUS-FIAT-/260781702517?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3cb7ccfd75 A few people in the Celica crowd have these euro style mirrors. I have the Vitaloni California style mirrors on my ke20.
  6. A lot of thrashed SXs, GTIs and even variants with 4afe/7afes will have stripped synchros for 2nd/3rd gears. High rev gear changes will reveal this issue.
  7. I prefer matte black because if you need to bash, weld, or grind, you can easily touch it up later.
  8. There's a ke16 wagon at pick n payless in blacktown at the moment. My memory is foggy on whether it had the windscreen but it might be worth a look.
  9. I've heard of people needing one to pass engineering. Anyone been down this road? I've also heard that you can get ULP filler inserts, apparently some of the imports that get certified have these installed.
  10. Most halfcut dealers start the engine inside the halfcut. At least that way you can start the motor cold, check for smoke, or any nasty noises.
  11. This is just another one of labors hair brained schemes. When they offer a rebate, people from lower socioeconomic areas will rush in and buy new cars that they can't afford, putting more people into debt. The dealers will up their price when business picks up. Labor benefits from keeping people burdened and dependent on the state.
  12. Best engineered ke20 in oz. Love the frame connectors in the floorpan. :jamie:
  13. Friggin nuts! Seeing the "wtf?!" looks on peoples faces would be priceless. :D
  14. Try pick n payless in blacktown. By and large, you wont find early rolla parts at wreckers.
  15. That guy better pack an extra pair of depends when he goes for a cruise. :worship:
  16. Great job man, turned out really well!
  17. Some frangipanis might throw off the bogans. :)
  18. I'd recommend against welding the skin to the skeleton The bonnet skin needs to be 'relaxed'. I welded mine and it was a nightmare to get straight. Welding it will pull down certain parts of the skin and your only option will be to add bog to get rid of the ripple. The proper way is to add sikaflex (comes in a caulking tube) which can be painted over.
  19. Flares look great on ke20s if you have mini lites or SSR meshies.
  20. Very depressing to see such a beautiful car wrecked. Please keep us updated on what becomes of the cretin thats in hospital.
  21. Most corollas with c52 gearboxes have dramas in second after a few years of (ab)use . Yours sounds pretty bad. If can obtain one from the wreckers or ebay, thats come out of an ae101 generation with a 7afe, it would probably be cheaper then getting yours rebuilt. Most ones bolted to 4ages would have copped a flogging.
  22. Start small and work your way up. I'd go for some adjustable sway bars and urethane bushes. Address the understeer first before putting in lowered springs.
  23. Gloss black for toughness. White for mintness.
  24. Theres plenty of good info on fiberglass forums. Some of it's a bit tacky but you will learn a thing or two.
