You cleaned up mate. :)

If you have dramas finding KE2x shackles, you can use ke3x and ke5x shackles provided you use their bushings. The pins are thicker which is probably a good thing if your diff is upgraded.

It will be quicker if you order directly through Whiteline. Autobarn is full of buffoons. I ordered a set through Autobarn, called back in 2 weeks. Nothing. Called back in a month, still hadn't arrived. After another two weeks later I drove there to sort things out and I shit you not, they had vacated the premises. $25 deposit gone. Not happy. :abuse:

Ok, with the assistance of masking tape, duct tape, bog and primer filler I got things sorted :hmm: Pretty happy with the results, it really sharpens up the character lines of the car. It's going to be painted black so things have to be perfect. 1. Roughed up the metal gently with the grinder so the bog has some tooth to stick to, then taped masked one side. 2. A thin skim of bog added in downward strokes then flattened long ways. 3. Feather in with a block and palm sander, trying to be careful not to rub back the centre 'ridge', duct tape will protect the centreline from being sanded back. 4. Repeat on the bottom side and use primer filler to fill up any scratch marks and pinholes. Doesn't look to exciting (the primer dosen't reflect light well) But the quarter panel is dead straight now and should look awesome when it's painted black. :y:

A different colour is a monumental effort and costly. If your keen on a fresh coat of paint, I'd just go with a closed door respray of a pearl white so it blends in with the rest of the paint.

Yeah I have a slide hammer with dent puller screws and could weld the holes :hmm: I was really impressed with this guy's effort with his celica, he beat the line down the middle like a pro: Anyway this is shitting me cos it's the last thing on the to do list with the bodywork before a coat of primer and wet sand :D

Haha bog holds the universe together. :D

Does anyone have any tips or techniques for restoring the line down the centre of the quarter panel? The quarter panel has had a few knocks and access behind it is limited.

I'm using a t18 diff, with Corona Avante Discs (More info on this mod on toymods) measures up as 1410. I'm running townace chasers (14x5.5) and they sit flush with the arch and clear the avante calipers ok. I will be running wider wheels with flares further down the track. With flares you could probably go 6.5 max (note that my rear arches are enlarged). When you cut the leaf spring mounts off, you might want to make a jig to keep their geometry 100% for when you transfer to the bigger diff.

Industrial strength degreaser like POR15's one, a toothbrush, assorted wire wheels and tiny dremel wire wheels works well. Just be careful of the rubber boot around the piston.

For Anyone Thats Pulled Apart/rebuilt Ae86 Jdm 2022 Calipers
Pieman replied to Pieman's topic in General Mechanical
Yeah but red is fast n furious bro :lolcry: -
I pulled apart a JDM caliper to paint and kept the other assembled as a reference. On closer inspection, the reference was missing this clip so I can't figure out where it goes and what it's purpose is. Hopefully someone knows.. Is it redundant to keeping the pads secured or am I going to need a rebuild kit?

Wow!!! What a tough little 25! :n: If you don't mind me asking, where did you source the U-bolts and backing plates from?
-
Top marks! It appeals to all ages. Brought back a few fond childhood memories. :lolcry:

Go there and ask for a price then haggle with cash most of the major rim places are flexible. :y:

Check how far it extends. In that area, it usually spreads underneath the window rubber because thats where the moisture settles, you might need to take out the windshield. If you can find a clean replacement section thats cut out from a donor car and give it to your panelbeater, you will save heaps of money on his hourly charges.
