Hi guys, I have an intersting Q for you , This sounds like something you wouldn't normally do but ..... is it possible to convert a manual KE55 to auto without too much trouble ?? Iv'e done this to heaps of cars just not a Toyota .

I'm only doing this because I had a motorcyle accident last year and totally screwed one of my legs so manuals are out of the question .

Thanks in advance for your help .

Cut a bigger hole in the trans tunnel for the shift. Hang auto pedals up. Bung in Auto. Possible different tailshaft (?). 4.3 diff unless you want it to be a slug. Plug hole in firewall from clutch cable. And a couple of little things.... not hard.

Grim: All later KE's were designed to have a T50 in them, hence large trans tunnel.

definately different tailshaft, both in spline and length. see if you can get the auto tailshaft for your car. if you ask on oldcorollas yahoo group, some of the guys might even have old auto ke55 bits to sell you?

don't forget the Auto's have the tranny cooler in the bottom / side of the radiator... you would either have to source one of those out / get a seperate small tranny cooler and hook it up somewhere else.
