hey, I have used Boge front inserts before they work nice and have a good bump and rebound.

I reckon you could get them from repco ect.

i can't remember whether it was pedders or monroe, but on one of their websites you can download a PDF that has all the measurements of every shock they sell.....it's a couple of MB, but worth it.

i have a printed copy in my file at work.

Quite a generalised statement.

Specifically, what product range did you use in Monroe (Sensatrac, GT Gas etc.) and/or Pedders (Touring Black Gas, Comfort Gas etc).

Were they on your KE55 or a mates mate's car, or is it just a general "perception" you have of these brands?

Also, what springs were been used in conjuction with the shocks, what's the weight of the car etc, what other suspension/steering products are installed? These are just some of the factors that will affect suspension softness/stiffness.

I have Comfort Gas Front/Rear in my KE38 and they are plenty stiff enough for me. To illustrate my previous points, I found that a lot of this stiffness was independent of the shocks themselves and attributed to modifying the rear leaf springs.

I think Monroe offer the PDF, Pedders have an online category library.

Its for off road track work (has pedders springs low/ and pedder shock)if ya get into a few pot hole the front lanches up

and bounces all over the place. The monroe are a little better---just want to stop the bouncing(full travel up and down)

What type of Pedders shock?

By the sounds of it you have spent some coin with Pedders, so I'd just go into a store and discuss driving conditions and how it currently handles etc. If they know you've fitted Pedders gear they will be more willing to advise you, doesn't mean you will necessarily buy anything off them of course (READ: free advice)!

Personally, I would be looking at a specs sheet and paying attention to suspension travel stats, and rebound rates.

That said, if you're driving over pot holes, wouldn't you expect the car to behave as you've described?

A KE55 is never going to offroad like a Landcruiser!

Edit: I'm confused by your reply, are you saying it is for "track work" ie closed circuit on the black stuff, or "off roading" e.g Motorkana/buggying on dirt?

You can run a koni out of a ke70 if you have a 25mm spacer machined up for the bottom of the strut leg.

Would be careful with spacers, if not spaced correctly it may cause the shock absorber to bottom out, or affect the performance of the shocker itself.

Run the spacer at the bottom of the insert to correct body legth of the shock. The compressed legths are 3 mm different, and the extended, 23mm. So if the car is lowered by 23mm or more you won't have a problem with topping out the strut any more then normal. and a strut is 1:1 ratio, with a 3mm difference in compressed length it won't bottom out any more then normal. Just make sure you have a bump stop, as with any strut.

The ke70 Koni is externally adjustable for rebound, so you can adjust until the "launching upwards" is as you would like. Keeping in mind this adjustment doesn't change bump settings"

Food for thought

Cheers

You can also ask them to post out a hard copy as well. I got sick of always bringing up the pdf copy and having to scan through it just to find what i wanted so i asked for the hard copy and haven't looked back since...

Urm, not long after i grabbed a pair of ke70 struts for my old chariot thinking, yeah good stuff better shocks etc etc. I found out there's two versions a 51mm and the pair i have - 45mm....

yes its for speedway!! What There.. i have no bum stops left? that could be why i am going through shocks every 4th meeting....as for the spring rate etc i can't find a PDF for this on there web

my poor comfort shocks from pedders ! i feel silly now for not pick'n it up ( bum stop's)

I didn't relise there was 2 different sizes, i have a set of AE71 legs, which monroe and koni both list to have the same insert as a ke70, which i have measured up and a koni should slide straight in with a 25mm dished spacer at the bottom.
