this is how I found the poor thing

here is the 1200cc powerhouse

since these were taken the car is out of the weeds. I have test fitted some 13x7 wheels and they will clear nicely. Ebay has graciously provided new brakes (ouch my wallet hurts) I have a nice Hyundai rear spoiler (re-commissioned as an airdam) thanks to U-pull-it (although I may go a different way). A friend is donating various Ford parts to make the car turn (cough swaybar cough). I think I have found some slicks for it on E-bay so it'll stick too. Budget wise on my $500 self imposed limit I will have enough left to either paint it or buy a racing seat (read used MX-5 seat).

I'll continue to post in this thread as this progresses.

This thread probably belongs in Rollaclub Rides, or Technical Builds.

Otherwise, I look forward to seeing how you get it going faster on a budget as I'm doing a similar thing to my 4 door KE30.

All the best!

Whiteline does a heavy duty sway bar for the front. Somewhere between $120-160 from memory.

Interestingly it is actually a smaller diameter that the standard one but more rigid.

Definately worth the $ from my experience

a bit of modifying, but try running a second bar. Had a mazda one fitted to my KE35 as well as the stock one and that made a huge difference to the front end.

made some progress today I pulled the interior out and started to remove the sound deadening. I found some rust :y: but it's repairable

went to the wreckers and picked up a nice MR2 seat for just $23. I need to shampoo the cover but it looks great compared to what's in the car

damn grass grows fast but that didn't stop me from pulling 60KG from the car

US bumpers weigh in at 25kg each

I'm also toying with the idea of a roof mounted spoiler since the down force would be right over the axle

all told I have removed 85kg from the car
