Curious. Suzuki or Yamaha (can't remember which) are actually releasing or have already released a two-wheel drive 2-wheel bike. I don't know if it's full-time 2WD (AWD) though. I think it's Yamaha, and it's a dirt bike, not a sports bike or even a cruiser.

AWD pushy... That's an interesting thought. Would it even be of much benefit? I suppose for a mountain bike, if you're riding up a muddy hill or something... How on earth do those work? It looks like a driveshaft? Bizzare!

Would be good up slippery steep hills as the extra grip would be of great benefit. I imagine going downhill would be improved as well.

Mum bought what you might be able to call a "awd" bike. Its basically got an electric motor in the front wheel hub to give you a bit of a boost when you need it. Apparently it goes really well (but I'm too heavy to try it...*grumble* don't ever work in a pizza store...being 6"4 doesnt help either...)
