K&n Filters

Featured Replies

Hello,

Would anybody know what replacement would be posible for the K&N air filter cleaner? I cannot find my bottle of it and I need to clean my air filter.

Thanks in advance.

NONE of the above, if you use solvent you'll f**k the element.

soapy water is what you should be using and let it dry before you re-oil it.

I will defer to Chris on this one, but I still thought that if push came to shove on a one off, you could (and indeed I have) use petrol.

I know continual washing in petrol roots them, but for a one off it shouldn't be a problem. Chris?

K&N allow too much dirt past with out an oiled foam pre-filter. use 10 weight oil in a spray bottle and dust it onto it allowing it to gently absorb. wash it with dish soap gently.

whats wrong with the proper kit?!?! only $30ish!!

yip you're right Rob, should be ok for a one off clean in petrol, continued cleaning in petrol dries the paper out and it starts to loose it's ability to filter.

if looked after and cleaned the right way you can get ten years out of the filter.

i think the ones on the rally car were 13 years old before we replaced them.

Dries out? isn't it thats the reason why they have oil for the filter element?
