I really can't believe all the things that look hard, you make them look so simple. Love it! Haha cheers man , getting to do a few little custom things now , i enjoy doing these little bits and pieces ,there alot easyier than the mechanical side of things , well for me any way , but pretty happy at this stage , car is sooo close to getting a few test drives on the road for the first time in over 3 years , so prety excited about that, just need to get through a bit more wiring ,alot more wiring actualy haha but its very close!! will do a video of the first ever drive out on the road ,realy hope it scares the shit out of me haha so used to driving round on a 4kc with blown head gasket and leaking fuel pump lol so be cool to see the differnce in power and performance as well, stay tuned tho alot more to come ! JDM55 Posted April 21, 2012 Author Report Posted April 21, 2012 so that was the sight last nite , been working hard out on wiring under the dash and managed to get a bit done , its just realy slow going, but i got the dash back on ,this is the one i painted up and recovered the dash pad, came out prety good for a diy job heres the dash faica, put 3 gauges in it and custom made a surround for the 180sx cluster, next i spent a very very long time trying to figure out all the wires on the 180 cluster , that was hard , melted my brain a fair bit , but i think i got them right , Quote
JDM55 Posted April 21, 2012 Author Report Posted April 21, 2012 and back together ! looks realy good ,happy with how it turned out, and some lights ! Quote

JDM55 Posted April 22, 2012 Author Report Posted April 22, 2012 Like that fascia ryan, You using the factory ecu? my tacho does not work using an after market ecu yeah got stock ecu, the tacho is working but having trouble with the speedo, probly my wiring but not sure have to get some better diagrams, pretty hard to decode the wiring diagrams of the net, have you got any diagrams of the speedo sensor to dash wiring?? Quote
JDM55 Posted April 22, 2012 Author Report Posted April 22, 2012 gave it a clean and had it outside for the first time! lol gave it some boost down the lane way , she picks up and goes all right! can't wait till can get on the road, few things i found from the quick drive ,got some scraping sounds from the front end, i know what it is , the disks are hitting the lower arms there way to close with the ae86 arms in there so mite swap them back to the xts, also my speedo isnt working ,most likely my wirnig was wrong ,i couldnt find a matching diagram to the colours of the wires i had ,so had to guess it a bit , just have to keep hunting for some proper diagrams i guess, and the alarm system does some wierd shit , when you turn off the the ign it keeps the car running till you close the door ,must be like a turbo timer or something , still have lots to learn with that set up , but pretty happy bout the little adventure in the lane way haha boooosssttt , Quote
suprascooter Posted April 22, 2012 Report Posted April 22, 2012 This thing is truly amazing and i can't wait to start mine next year :) don't think i will be able to match up to the high quality of work you have done though Quote
JDM55 Posted April 22, 2012 Author Report Posted April 22, 2012 This thing is truly amazing and i can't wait to start mine next year :) don't think i will be able to match up to the high quality of work you have done though thanks james ! its getting there ,just wish i could work faster and for longer and had more money haha, but for a budget build all done bymyself its coming along, what are your plans for next year? JDM55 Posted April 22, 2012 Author Report Posted April 22, 2012 heres a very short vid of lane way action! :P http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xElQGsJ4DdM&feature=youtu.be Quote
BUZ440 Posted April 23, 2012 Report Posted April 23, 2012 haha nice vid mate, I do have quite a large wiring diagram (packed away) and my speedo does work, I'm sure its the green/yellow wire from memory, I'm sure they are on forums etc, or even shoot Matt a msg?? I'm guessing my tacho don't work being the ECU having an electronic signal as opposed to analog, its annoying at times, so pull up resistor, Also with the fuel sender, i have the standard KE unit in there, just above the quarter empty mark is when she is out of fuel, FYI Quote
suprascooter Posted April 23, 2012 Report Posted April 23, 2012 thanks james ! its getting there ,just wish i could work faster and for longer and had more money haha, but for a budget build all done bymyself its coming along, what are your plans for next year? getting my mate done from Darwin to Panel beat it (and spend some time catching up) then hopefully get engine and what not osrted and installed once all that side of things is done enginerred and so forth then paint and drive hopefully ( I'm hoping to have it sorted in a year or 2 fingers crossed) yours is truly amazing man keep up the good work (don't wana do it to a ke55 coupe do ya hahaha) Quote
JDM55 Posted April 23, 2012 Author Report Posted April 23, 2012 ive got this one for the dash it seems to be fairly standard as ive seen a few others and there all the same pretty much, shows the speedo wires, but i wired it up this way and its not working , possibly i have a faulty speed sensor, I'm going to pull it out and check that first then if thats working ,pull the dash out and try a direct connection to the back of the cluster , i have a spare cluster also which mite try it on that , one of them has to work!! the diagram to me looks like this , speed sensor has to wires, y/blue and y/black, actualy my speed sensor has differnt colours black and green , shouldnt make much differnce i don't think, theres a yellow and green wire going to the ecu , and it has power from the green ignition wire and earth from pin 28 ,so flm it should work, i could be reading it wrong or my sensor is faulty or i have the sensor wires round the wrong way or the speedo in the cluster is buggard, but I'm more learning toward ive wired it wrong some how, the last few wiring sessions are abit of a blur now ,as i done soo much wiring ,hard to remember exactly till i look into it, but this is the diagram i been going off and the colours are correct as they match up to the dash loom i have getting my mate done from Darwin to Panel beat it (and spend some time catching up) then hopefully get engine and what not osrted and installed once all that side of things is done enginerred and so forth then paint and drive hopefully ( I'm hoping to have it sorted in a year or 2 fingers crossed) yours is truly amazing man keep up the good work (don't wana do it to a ke55 coupe do ya hahaha) no i don't want to do another car lololol this one has had enuff work put into it and after this i don't intend to do any more , want to just enjoy what ive made, but sounds like you got a good plan in place, always good to get things sorted before you dive in, hope it goes well for ya mate. Wow very nice work on the dash! haha thanks mate, its a fairly basic set up , could have done what every one does and put auto meter gauges every where , but wanted the stock cluster to go with the stock ecu and stock engine ,but looks good and hopefully once i sort out the speedo issue it will all work as it should :) Quote
JDM55 Posted April 28, 2012 Author Report Posted April 28, 2012 well still no luck on the speedo, tryed a few differnt things now, realy no idea with that one think ill take a break form it and come back to it later, starting to anoy me now, so thought id move back on to the console, managed to get it mounted so now i can bolt it in and out which helps for lining things up, this console getting alot of mods! mounted the stock bracket in place again after it was removed to cover over the gear stick hole, lucky i kept it! so next I'm going to attach my custom console cover i made using plastic and a heat gun , prepped the console by sanding the surface with 180 gritt sand paper, glued it all up and stuck the plastic ontop, taped it all down to hold it in place while it dryed, also hot glue guned the insides as well just to make sure Quote
