philbey Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 I'm no electron brother but I'd say with 2000watts of juice, you're pulling a hell of a lot of current that should be running your motor. You won't need a battery, you'll need a bigger alternator. The 25 amp unit in your car is probably lacking. Turn all your audio gear off and see if you have the same issue. Quote
altezzaclub Posted November 6, 2009 Report Posted November 6, 2009 Set the idle level with the music system running. Maybe your alty will run it, but the grunt to turn the alty means the motor needs a few more revs... Quote
rollake70 Posted November 9, 2009 Author Report Posted November 9, 2009 i set the timing to faster revs and it helped but it still stops every now n then ?? anyone? Quote
Felix Posted November 9, 2009 Report Posted November 9, 2009 Could be the needle and seat in the carb. Is it more likely to stall if you pull up fast? Quote
BReNt Posted November 9, 2009 Report Posted November 9, 2009 Does it only happen when your foot is on the brake? Quote
rollake70 Posted November 27, 2009 Author Report Posted November 27, 2009 no its all to do with the revs when the car trys to stall its when the revs just die and the engine can't maintaine running without me on the accelerator keeping her going Quote
altezzaclub Posted November 27, 2009 Report Posted November 27, 2009 Does it idle at all? If not then the idle jet in the carb is blocked, or a similar problem somewhere in the idle circuit. Quote
TRD ke70 Posted November 27, 2009 Report Posted November 27, 2009 idle cut off solenoid sounds like it's not working, should hear a click from the carbie when the ignition is turned on, if not; it's a good bet it's stuffed. Quote
kiahn Posted November 28, 2009 Report Posted November 28, 2009 id say get a larger alternator, might as well if your going to run stereo system also if you like to play your music with the car off then buy a larger battery, mod the batter holder to suit or boot your battery also it sounds like you have a problem with your idle mixture running rich, happening to my car atm and mines efi :jamie: does your gases coming out the rear smell like its burning rich if it does try leaning it out by adjusting the air bypass and throttle stop, screw out the air bypass and revs should pick up a lil, then screw out the throttle stop to drop the revs a little bit Quote
towe001 Posted November 29, 2009 Report Posted November 29, 2009 idle cut off solenoid sounds like it's not working, should hear a click from the carbie when the ignition is turned on, if not; it's a good bet it's stuffed. +1 on that. If you don't know what it looks like, have a look at the carby and you'll see a pair of wires hanging off a cylinder looking thingy and thats your "idle cut off solenoid" and if its not that then its a carby issue as altezzaclub and Felix said If its anything to do with your thumping stereo the red alternator light will start coming on and when the car dies it take a bit more then a click of the key to re-start Quote
spongebob101 Posted November 29, 2009 Report Posted November 29, 2009 check that all of you vacuum lines are connected cos mine was stallin if i put my foot on the clutch or come to a stop and i found a vaccum line was off an i put it back on an its running fine now. sounds simple but just giv it a go an u mite find that 1s off.
