Found a quicker way to get some ae86 struts into our ke2x's. Just use the Techno Toy Tuning ae86 PS arm (http://www.technotoytuning.com/productdetail.php?p=789) and their Starlet / AE86 Strut Adapter Bushings (http://www.technotoytuning.com/productdetail.php?p=789) Total cost of $176.24AUD, but if we get a group buy we might be able to get them cheaper.

Also does anyone know if we use the 86 PS arm if we have to use a 86 RCA?

You can of course buy some TE27 steering arms, either from Japan (usually fairly expensive) or the USA (usually cheap).

I have two sets, the last cost me $USD10.

There was a guy selling a pair this week for $USD40. Then you can get AE86 RCA's in various heights to suit.

So what you're saying is you can use an AE86 strut if you have TE27 steering arms?

Would KE25 ones suit??

This is the ball joint/knuckle your talking about right

Yes. TE27 arms have the same 85mm bolt spacing as AE86 and others.

Importantly they also use the same balljoint as a KE2x, so will fit on your existing lower control arm. Plus they are the same length as KE2x.

Another option is to source AE86 power steering arms which from memory are only 5mm longer, BUT you need to use a spacer with the balljoint pin as the AE86 pin is larger.

T3 do an aftermarket AE86 power steer arm complete with spacer, but they look a bit bling for my liking.

EDIT: with AE86 struts the stub axle inclination results in a little more positive camber. Realistically you would need to convert to coilovers so you have enough room within the strut tower to get camber back (plus a bit more) with some adjustable tops.

This is awesome information.

I am going to run coilovers and camber tops in my 20. This has opened up a whole range of possibilities for me now

Thankyou sir

EDIT: You don't want to sell that spare set of TE27 steering arms at all??

PMs are better for business in tech areas. If you please.

Sorry got caught up in the excitement of the moment

And 19914afc - yeah I have purchased some KE20 adjustable strut tops

If you can run AE86 struts though that just opens up a world of possibilities :hmm:

yes but good luck finding some te27 steering arms in australia, and even in the us they only come up every now and then.

Edit: also where did you get the adjustable strut tops? and how much if you don't mind me asking?

AE86 struts are a pretty common upgrade in Japan and the US.

Gives you a wide range of shock and brake pad options.

One of the guys on the KE thread on toymods looks to have used some S14 adjustable tops that seem to bolt in. May need to look into that a bit more to confirm they fit.

sounds like he would of just re-drilled the strut tower, that's what the guy I bought my ke20 off did when he put S13 Silvia coilovers in, the s13 coilovers are pretty easy to put in one of the holes just needs enlarging, but it messes with the steering geometry.

This is the photo he posted up amongst others showing the strut upgrade

Looks pretty damn close, not sure how much it affects caster

have done this conversion myself. article here

te21 and te28 steering arms are same as te27.

Sourced some te28 arms out of hawaii of all places and now fitted into ke26 with ae85 struts, ae92GT shocks, king springs and original ke2 top hats. definately needs those camber plates and lowering springs. i have about 2deg POSITIVE camber without camber plates.

te2 steering arms have 85mm bolt spacing and 110mm length eye-to-eye but a smaller 12mm ball joint hole to suit ke1/ke2 ball joints.

80-85mm offset RCA's would be a good idea. cheaper than buying te2 steering arms and 85mm RCA's together.
