I would imagine they are basically a 4K or a 5K, with bits added on or taken off. With that in mind I guess any box that would bolt onto a 4K or a 5K would bolt on.

they are your standard 4K and 5K, the J stands for Japanese emissions equipment, which wasn't as restrictive as the C.

I've read some info that these were the most powerful of the 4/5Ks by around 10kw/hp whichever it was..

so yes, it'll all bolt up to it

any K engine will bolt up to any K gearbox(bellhousing).

you might have to change flywheels and some other stuff but they do all bolt up the same, and that includes 7K's.

Thanks,

Reason I ask is that there is (was) a new ND gear reduction starter motor on ebay specified for those engines. It has a higher torque rating compared to the standard starter motor.

Seller sent me the specs and dimensions just before the bidding ended. Identical pinion gear, bolt position, flange etc. as the standard motor.

I got it, I was the only bidder for $110. don't know if thats a good deal or not but it should turn over the modified engines a bit better.

i had LOTS of starter problems when i first put the 4k in daisy......it turned out that the ring gear on the 3k was different, i am running a gear reduction starter now

yeah the some of the 5Ks had the reduction starter on them. comes with the heat sheild and all....havent had any troubles with mine since i put one of these on.....although mine sounds like a truck when it starts up... ;)

you'll probably find the battery wire going to the starter motor will be very close to the block....just chuck something that will insulate it well and its all go.

ps. i now have a reconditioned starter motor out the back with a rooted solenoid because of my 5k....lol
