Is there much involved in replacing cv boots on an ae82, it's the only thing that got picked for a road worthy and also is the speedo electronic or cable as the dash is making a rattling noise and the speed jumping 20k but give it a little tap and it stops briefly and reads correct

No much at all, Only problem is getting the hub nut undone as they sometimes seize, Speedo is cable driven.

If your dash is rattling, the top plastic piece that sits over the cluster, pull out the 2 little air vents on the sides of the dash cluster, and check if the screws are loose, if not then take them out and 2 others above the speedo, they are on 45 deg angle at the back, take it off and put some thin foam tape on the back edge and it should fix your problem :)

Next problem is the proportioning valve for the washers. Hit the button for the front and it's fine but try the rear switch and it only sends water to the front. Valve seems to have direct power to the ignition circuit. Thoughts?

You checked to see if the valve is connected, Alot of them are bypassed as they fail, You are more then welcome to try one of mine.

What do you mean direct power to ignition?

i got 2 others from the wreckers this arvo.

turn the key to on and it has power to it.

i will probably figure this out when i've had some more sleep

So you replaced the rear switch and it still didn't do anything?

I will have a look at mine tomorrow and see what I can work out.
