Gear Box In A Mr2

my gear box is on the way out in my 1987 mr2. but i don't know what to replace it with. its got a 7afe in it so iis got the box from the 4age or 7afe

and is there any others that will fit it with LSD.

C52, E51 or E58. I don't remember which one of the "E" boxes had the LSD from factory, unless you've already gone the aftermarket LSD route.

 

But if you pick up a gearbox from the fwd corolla your going to have to crack the box open to spin the shifters around so that i t can be used in the mr2

Should be a 4AGE engine, not a 7AFE, never heard of a 7AFE swap into an MR2. Never heard of spinning the shifters around to suit MR2s can you be more specific about what you do exactly?

I heard you can't use a FWD 4age Gearbox on a MR2 because the gearbox is reversed or something.

Its not so much the shifter itself but the mechanism its the opposite way to how it is in a fwd

E58 has the stocko LSD

 

however there is still 2 types it could be a torsion or clutch engage.....

 

I helped valandor swap a 7AFE into his 2, ran an EMS stinger went well :)

not all E58's had LSD's, and they also had different driveshafts. so if you get one, make sure you get the driveshafts with it. they are real had to find seperate.

 

if your playin with boxes, maybe try a 6 speed from an AE111, and put a kaaz LSD in it?
