jimi91 Posted June 12, 2010 Report Share Posted June 12, 2010 (edited) hey guys I bought myself a project it is a 1979 Toyota Corona with a 18rc 2lt a GANNY CAR(as my dad calls it :D ), it has a four speed which is the w40 box and what dad can gather it has a 3.9:1 diff ratio, the interior is in excellent condition except for back parcel shelf, tear on top of back seats and driver seat springs ar prob gone but it will be ok :(, the engine bay is a bit bad but with a good wash and a bit of work it will come up good, ok there is alot of rust but it is all fixable rust so ive got a lot of work to do and I'm sure my welding skills will get better :hmm: My aim is to get it on full rego so i can drive it around as daily if not ill club rego it and just have it as a cruiser Any way here are some pics, soz guys for shit pics but it was dark and was on new phone!!! :y: If i am able to get her on full rego ill hopefully be able to con dad in to leting me have the w55 box his got an a 4.1:1 ratio liteace diif which will make it an awesome cruiser then maybe carbie upgrades if i save up enough or sell my other car i drive at moment!! :) see ya jimi Edited June 12, 2010 by jimi91 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Went down to the local wreckers today and they had 2 of the old girls i got both passenger doors of one, got a complete sill for passenger side and the two panels that go along the windows above parcel shelve in pics, also gave the car a wash and she came up pretty good and showed me a few spots where theres a few more stuff to do, also the dash has a crack but its fixable and will get done later on. When I started trying to clean up my first corolla (a KE35) I looked everwhere for a good front passenger side guard and drivers door (in the end found a 55 with the parts and started working on that instead). Got great news guys i got all the stuff from the wreckers today and they look great!!!! but when i took a closer look at the sill i got it had rust in it :bash: luckily its not in the section i need :bash: I'm happy with this door cause it has a mirror :laff: Went to vicroads as well and found out i can register the old girl boo yah!!!!! :bash: just need to get a roadworthy and a recite from the person i bought it off which is easy cause i work with them :y: I chucked the car on some car ramps to make it easier to work on and had a look underneath and checked everything and the gearbox was leaking extremely bad :bash: but ill just put a 5 speed in now which will fix that :P :bash: bugger it looks crap!!! Went out tonight and thought id get a wire brush on a drill and grind all the bubble spots and where the rust is in small spots, after grinding away for a bit my worst nightmare happened holes started appearing as i grinded away the paint and rust flakes :( most of it is in sills, bottom of guard, and the lip of the boot Any way pics... Went out today and got the basics for a tune got spark plugs, leads, points, rotor button, dissy cap(on order and on way). Started up the old girl and she was much better then before!!! Yah all better now ;) I had a look at the plugs when i took them out and they were black as prob from sitting around from so long leads where rock hard as well!! Spent the weekend working on the car :blinks:, i got all new parts for the old girl and decided to put them on the car i got a brake master cylinder, clutch master and a slave cylinder after spending a bit of time fitting all the parts and putting new fluid throw the systems i had brakes and a decent clutch YAHHHHHHHHHHHHH :lol: lol also during the week i put one of the dorrs on but havent finished it yet still got to check all the inside of door doesnt close properly prob cause door handle is jammed :blinks: but ill just transfer stuff from old to new door cause the old door parts all work :blinks: see ya jimi ps.. drove the car up and down the driveway and she goes alright lol :blinks: just need to do rust shit now :blinks: Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

jimi91 Posted August 1, 2010 Author Report Share Posted August 1, 2010 update........... hey guys spent the weekend trying to get the bog work finished on drivers side then thought i prob should take guard of to see under!!! well ive done that on both sides and my worst dream has happend!!! :lolcry: right at the bottom on both sides there are huge holes, from what i can see there is nothing from the plenum chamber but i might have to put some water up top to see where its coming from!!!
