rolla rookie =D Posted June 15, 2010 Report Posted June 15, 2010 (edited) hi i have not long picked up a gearbox for my 4age conversion, its a rare cable clutch k50 with an a series bellhousing integrated into the gearbox (it came out of a ae70 with a 3au). my problem is that the input shaft is 19 spline as its a k series box and the origional flywheel or preasure plate off the 3au wont line up to the 4age. so just wondering ,will a k series heavy duty clutch plate work inbetween a 4age flywheel and preasure plate? or will i have to find a clutch plate thats 19 spline and the same diameter as the 4age flywheel? any help would be apreciated cheers Edited June 15, 2010 by rolla rookie =D Quote
Taz_Rx Posted June 16, 2010 Report Posted June 16, 2010 or will i have to find a clutch plate thats 19 spline and the same diameter as the 4age flywheel? Might need to get something custom made to suit. Quote
rolla rookie =D Posted June 18, 2010 Author Report Posted June 18, 2010 ;) Might need to get something custom made to suit. dammn aye was hoping it was gonna be an easy fix bt ahwell haha. but i will give the k series clutch a go once its all up and running,c how it goes lol cheers for the help taz rx Quote
trd Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 (edited) i think the clutch out of a al21 or al25 tercel fits that(check the splines). the other thing to check with that g/box is what side the cable is on as they did have a model with a cable on the l/h side (bloody long cable) Edited June 18, 2010 by trd Quote
Bamboo Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 not really an answer, but take your plate to a brake shop. I had a corona g'box on a holden red motor and was able to mix clutch and pressure plates off the shelf. I'd guess there is a clutch plate out there Quote
LXY-642 Posted June 19, 2010 Report Posted June 19, 2010 if it needs to be custom maybe it'd just be smarter to go a t50 of an a series engine? Quote
beerhead Posted June 19, 2010 Report Posted June 19, 2010 T50 is a much nicer box to deal with than a K50. BTW the exedy webpage has all the clutch spline and diam data online. Quote
rolla rookie =D Posted June 20, 2010 Author Report Posted June 20, 2010 alright cheers for the help guys ill just ask a few places and do some more research and c what i can find. and the k50 was dirt cheap so thats why i got it and makes the conversion a lil more easier (asuming i don't have any issuse with the clutch),though probably will go a w series box when i start producing more power later. the cable is also on the drivers side tooo so its a direct fit into the ke70 ;) ill have more of a look on the excedy site but all the tercel clutches i looked at were strangely 21 spline so hopefully i missed one lol apreciate the help-cheers Quote
