davistua06 Posted June 16, 2010 Report Posted June 16, 2010 Alright i was on my way home from work, and then i took off this one time and the car just ran like a dog, i had to pull the choke out and managed to limp home. I had a fiddle with the mixture screw starting in little increments then just went to the extreme but still no change at all, i took had a look insede the carb and seems to be jetting alright, it doesn't blow any black smoke. Now this leads me to believe it may be some sort of ignition problem. I recently did a major service just after i bought it (about 3 weeks ago) which means it has new leads and plugs, the dizzy looks reasonably new, so i was wondering if it may be the timing is out. and help of suggestions is greatly appreciated cheers!! davistua06 Posted June 16, 2010 Author Report Posted June 16, 2010 yeah i did just then with the 1/2 turn but to no avail, and i don't think it has a fuel filter its nowhere in the engine bay if it doe, and forgive give I'm not familiar with dwell? Quote
altezzaclub Posted June 16, 2010 Report Posted June 16, 2010 If it was running fine then everything you did to tune it was OK. Sounds like a bit of dirt has got stuck in a jet, hence the choke. If not, maybe fuel pump?? Join Twinky in a carb strip and clean! Quote
davistua06 Posted June 16, 2010 Author Report Posted June 16, 2010 sounds like i may need too, although i was thinking fuel pump too. i mean it revs up fine with no load, but the as soon as you load it up it just turns to shit basically. Quote
Taz_Rx Posted June 16, 2010 Report Posted June 16, 2010 Did you replace the points when you did the leads and plugs? If so maybe they're slipped and closed up a bit. They don't normally just go "out of timing". Quote
jason12 Posted June 17, 2010 Report Posted June 17, 2010 Have you got your ballast resistor (white rectangle thing near the coil) When i brought my rolla that was gone and once it got to operating temp it'd start doing that Quote
