gt88 Posted June 20, 2010 Report Posted June 20, 2010 Got a 1997 Corolla and the courtesy light stopped working. Popped off the cover and this was the first time ive seen this kind of bulb. The bulb seems to be riveted on a aluminum rod and onto the plastic housing. I wouldn't have a clue how to remove it. Didnt want to have a crack at getting it off at the fear of buggering up the aluminum rod because obviously its needed to change between door, off and on. Anyones help is appreciated. Cheers Quote
jono1986 Posted June 20, 2010 Report Posted June 20, 2010 I might be able to help, if you take a picture of it Quote

Cheers 97 Corolla? As in an AE101/102? If so, then the courtesy lamp is a festoon bulb that sits between two spring-clips, it should just pop straight out. If it gives you trouble, then just unscrew the whole assembly (two screws), disconnect the wiring plug and that should make things heaps easier. If that doesn't sound right, take a photo of it and we should be able to work it out. Quote
gt88 Posted June 20, 2010 Author Report Posted June 20, 2010 It's a 102 Here's a picture.... What needs to be replaced? Is it just the bulb? Can they be bought from Supercheap etc? Never seen those bulbs before. Cheers Quote
jono1986 Posted June 20, 2010 Report Posted June 20, 2010 the globe in the middle?? Its the glass thing with little silver caps on each side, it just pops out. Take it to an auto place and they will you give a replacement Quote
Hiro Protagonist Posted June 20, 2010 Report Posted June 20, 2010 Yep, those spring-clips on each side have a little hole in them in which the tips of the bulb sit, just push them apart and the globe should pop straight out I had to pull mine apart last weekend thinking to clean the contacts and change the bulb. xmoht Posted June 20, 2010 Report Posted June 20, 2010 You can also get LED replacements from lots of different places, internet, specialist electronics stores on so on. They pop right in same as the bulb, cost pretty close to the same, use way less power and provide lots more light. Quote
