  1. I've got a couple of KE70s and out of about four keys, they're all the same and all fit the doors, boot, ignition etc. Never seen the black one. Sure it's necessary?
  2. Roll cage is nice, and tastefully matches the colour scheme. Also love the sound system. Who needs to angle speakers to use the interior shape to bounce sound waves in your direction, when you can just put them directly in your face? Curious about the red plastic basket in the first picture, is that a custom speaker box?
  3. Thanks for the replies guys. It looked wired properly, actuators worked really well. I guess I'll just have to put it in the new car, run a multimeter over it and see what happens. Any suggestions on where the wire the power, somewhere inside the cabin? Yours is connected through the firewall directly to the battery terminal beezlebub? Also I laugh every time I read AE92Nova's posts, particularly enjoy 'could/will drift away from a police chase to safety'.
  4. Hi everyone, 1984 Corolla KE70, stock engine and everything, battery less than one year old. No issues but shortly after installing a remote central locking kit the battery kept dying. Cheap aftermarket kit mind you, and I wired the power directly to the battery in the engine bay. Is the likely cause of the drain the remote central locking? If so - Is it the continual drain caused by the remote aspect always sensing? - Could it be a problem with the unit itself? - Is it the poor wiring? Should it be connected to something else? - Would a larger battery compensate for the drain if it is caused by the remote sensing? If anyone can provide me with some advice it would be really appreciated. Setting up a new KE70 and transferring some parts over so I want to do a good job of it this time rather than rushing it. :D

  6. Hi Rollaclubbers, Just noticed a thread I made about my front end almost a year ago with zero replies, so hoping this one gets a few more bites. I have a set of four Toms Igeta wheels that have been soda blasted. I want to get them polished, and after great difficulty attempting it myself had decided to outsource the job. Are there any well priced businesses or individuals in the area who can polish these up for me? I am hoping to get them done for $50 a wheel. They've been soda blasted as mentioned so no paint to remove and an even rough surface to polish. Thanks if you can help!
  7. Exactly what I was thinking after reading the first post. Is it that driving a KE70 regularly is hard work, or is it that pushing it around a veritable drift track is hard work? If you want it to be reactive then you can either swap in an AE86 power steering kit, or put a quick rack into the standard steering rack. The latter however is going to mean you turn the steering wheel less to get more rotation of the wheels, but it's still going to be hard work in terms of muscular capacity. If you want to turn the wheels quickly and easily, then 1) a power steering setup is the only real option 2) a KE70 is maybe a less logical car to be driving than a slightly later model car from Nissan.
  8. Considered putting in an aftermarket setup? Can make it look reasonably stock with nice mounting in a plastic panel, especially if you want one with a higher top speed.

  10. Hello Hobart Rolla Clubbers, Can anyone recommend someone decent to rebuild my brakes and front struts? (RX-7 calipers with new rotors, 86 struts new shocks/springs not coilovers) Components are all there, including brake rebuild kit. I need them put together, but also cleaned up with a paint respray. Greater Hobart area is preferable, let me know if you've got any tips!
  11. Ha! Actually I was looking at some places that will source the engine and install for you. I'm in NSW, and the now multiple KE70s are in Tasmania so I'm at the stage where I would rather redirect my income rather than my time to the car as I just want to drive the end product. You know it's time to make a change when you are seriously considering buying a used Daihatsu Applause rather than paying someone else to fix your Corolla.
  12. 1984 Corolla Sedan To do list: - Rebuild and prepare RX-7 calipers - Build and prepare front suspension - Rebuild rear brakes and suspension - Polish wheels / new tyres / locknuts - Acquire and install engine package - New seat - New radiator This is to keep track of where I am in the build. Slow and steady.

  15. You only need a mod plate if the engine is a going from a four cylinder to a V8, if it's stock V6 you can put in anything up to a V12 in which case you need a mod plate. All the other mods are basically a component of this, and therefore unless you put in a V8 or bigger you don't need mod plate. Mod plate needed for wheels though if going 18 inch diameter or bigger if the stock wheels are under 14 inches.
  16. Installed remote central locking, audio system, Igetas have been sandblasted and just need clear coat and tyres.
  17. You've obviously already made your decision. The other guy says "buy guitar" and you say "yeah that is a great idea", this guy says "buy the engine" and you say "that's a good perspective but guitar is better". What are you looking for? I could make a list of dot points on why it is the logical decision based on what I've already ascertained about your psychological profile, but let's not waste everyones time and just buy your damned guitar.
  18. Probably start a new thread when it finally gets rego. Just a quick recap. Engine swap and everything went fine at the inspection station but a number of things weren't up to scratch. New brake line, and put new ball joints in the LCA's. Took it back, failed again. Replaced brake pedal rubber, replaced tie rod, replaced tie rod end, tightened wheel hub. Failed again. "Excessive movement in steering rack R.H.S." Replacing the rack and pinion as soon as the replacement gets here and give it a general cleaning, which will hopefully fix the problem. The replacement is a Quaife quick rack. Other items of note are my AE86 struts, which I will be sending to AJPS for coilovers as soon as I scrounge up the money. Getting some T3 steering knuckles to go with it, which like most things it seems are cheaper to buy from the US and pay postage than they are to buy from local distributor.

  20. Will the screw driver technique work to get in my Ford Fiesta? I lost the key and will need a diagram of the wiring so I can start it once I get inside as well. cheers xmoht
