altezzaclub Posted June 21, 2010 Report Posted June 21, 2010 (edited) As far as I know there is no difference at all. The "Hicam" was just a loser's advertising ploy when everyone else started making overcam motors! Embarrasses me really... Edited June 21, 2010 by altezzaclub Quote
Paulieke30 Posted June 21, 2010 Author Report Posted June 21, 2010 from the looks from what other forums are saying its only the emitions that got changed on them and some little other things but the engine is still the same??? I just needed to no only head i can get in my area is off a "HI-CAM" so i thought ill see if there the same lol Quote
rob83ke70 Posted June 21, 2010 Report Posted June 21, 2010 marketing. head should be the same! seen the "o2 advantage" on a vzj95r prado with a 5vz-fe? it didn't come with oxygen sensors from the factory and yet it still had the o2 advantage!! maybe the o2 advantage was the o2 molecules that it used in the combustion process? marketing!! Paulieke30 Posted June 21, 2010 Author Report Posted June 21, 2010 SWEET. thanks guys so much i want the rolla back on the road over driving the old mans land rover lol one more quick question if i was to mill the head and maybe port what would be the most you'd go?? i'm going carby set and headers next month or so? apart from sports exhaust all is just stock Quote
rob83ke70 Posted June 21, 2010 Report Posted June 21, 2010 wouldn't go above 10:1 compression ratio and I'd match the ports but not enlarge them much. small diameter keeps gas speed up. Robert. Quote
philbey Posted June 22, 2010 Report Posted June 22, 2010 (edited) What rob said. Get your builder to plane the head to the comp ratio you want. It's no good anyone here saying "take 1.5mm off" it's all dependent on your current specs anyway. Edited June 22, 2010 by philbey Quote

"O2 Advantage" was a reference to the improved breathing capabilities of Toyota engines as they adopted an almost universal twin-cam multivalve design in the early 90s. Nothing to do with an O2 sensor. Same sort of thing with the "Super Responsive" and LASRE engines in the 80s (Super Responsive was basically the adoption of overhead cams, LASRE was Lightweight Advanced Super Responsive Engine, again referring to overhead cams and EFI improving engine response and revs) Quote
