doecke55 Posted July 6, 2010 Report Posted July 6, 2010 Hey, i recently purchased a ke55, and i am planning to gradually work on it to make is a rally club car, i was thinking of starting with a extractors and 2" exhaust system, weber carb and see how i go from there, how hard is it to get some rigid rear shocks, and springs and for what cost?, and is this a good way to go, thanks heaps Quote
19914afc Posted July 6, 2010 Report Posted July 6, 2010 the best you could probably get without custom is king springs and some VH?? commodore wagon rear short stroke shocks would make it stiffer cause there built to support a heavier load. King springs would be about $150 a pair? and no idea how much the shocks would be. Quote

VH wagon rear shocks fit in KE20 so would be right in a ke55. Quote
RedKE30 Posted July 7, 2010 Report Posted July 7, 2010 Yeh VS wagon rear shocks fit in KE30s/55s. I've done it. I've never heard of VH shocks being used but I'm not saying it's not possible. Quote
doecke55 Posted July 7, 2010 Author Report Posted July 7, 2010 Thanks heaps guys, so vn to vs wagon rear shocks is the go, whyat does it cos roughly to reset leaf springs and is it worth trying to find some stiffer ones from somewhere else? Quote
seabiscuit Posted July 7, 2010 Report Posted July 7, 2010 Thanks heaps guys, so vn to vs wagon rear shocks is the go, whyat does it cos roughly to reset leaf springs and is it worth trying to find some stiffer ones from somewhere else? To make stiffer ones add another leaf. KE36/KE38 are a TAD stiffer, but an extra leaf would be easier to acquire! Quote
19914afc Posted July 7, 2010 Report Posted July 7, 2010 Vb - vs live axle rears are the same :) thought so. Quote
doecke55 Posted July 7, 2010 Author Report Posted July 7, 2010 ok so get another leaf and commie shocks just another 55 leaf or what and would that mean longer u bolts? Quote
corollaart Posted July 7, 2010 Report Posted July 7, 2010 If your setting it up for dirt events don't go crazy making it to solid in the rear end (like fully sick drift spec) If it picks up wheels you not getting traction. Try comodore shocks and std springs to start with,if not happy go a extra leaf as they say. Front i only run xt130 coilover with 150 spring and shity old monroe inserts ,22mm sway bar, extented control arms (20mm) and new rally tyres. Its quite often to go to a rally and the guy tells you that he just spent 5gs on the motor 8 gs on suspension then bolts on worn out tyres :) rob Quote
doecke55 Posted July 9, 2010 Author Report Posted July 9, 2010 yeah i see what you mean, thanks Quote
coln72 Posted July 9, 2010 Report Posted July 9, 2010 (edited) First thing read you clubs rules and talk to people about what is legal and what isn't. No use building something and not being able to run it. For example, some clubs wont allow rally tyres.... Edited July 9, 2010 by coln72 Quote
