Trev Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 I am going to be repainting my enkei's shortly as they are faded and they look shit house now, I have a that I have watched which gives you a fair idea of how to do it. 1. scuff wheels with wire wheel. 2. hand sand sharp edges. 3. clean the wheels with something like thinners. 4. spray primer the wheels 5. Paint with polyurethane wheel paint for best results or use a high heat paint. 6. apply a clear coat. Now my wheels are alloy and I am going to be painting them black again as they are going on my sedan, is there anything that you guys suggest that I should do differently or any other steps I should take? The wheels how they were a few years ago: Quote
beerhead Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 Man stuff using paint, have them bead blasted and powder coated and you won't need to touch them for years. Quote

greenmac80 Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 (edited) +2 for powdercoat.. jst make sure you get them primed for the longest lasting coating. there is stuff called E-prime. we give a 5 yr warranty on that... and then there is stuff called Zinc Prime. we give 10yr warranties on that.. instead of bead blast i'd go with a fines grade garnet blast. Beadblasting is very smooth and powder doesn't adhere as well. in saying this a polyurethane 2 pack paint if applied correctly and cured properly will be cheaper and still last for a very very long time... The place I have spoken to about PC in the past will take the parts as they are, strip them, dip them and then coat them. That is why I looked at using the poly paint. Quote
greenmac80 Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 nah thats also a good process.. mean they a zinc plating them which is a very long lasting way to do it.. we don't have the tanks to do that at our work so we blast zinc PC then topcoat PC. Quote
