irokin Posted January 1, 2011 Report Posted January 1, 2011 I'm tossing up buying a Seibon CF OEM bonnet and hatch combo for it. Its just so annoying to find old steel parts that need fixing and still will set me back $500. Anyhow, more thought is needed there. Hit me up if you're gonna order some stuff from them. Might be able to save on shipping. Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted January 1, 2011 Author Report Posted January 1, 2011 Yeah no problems. Are you looking for some CF bits for the Silo? Quote
irokin Posted January 1, 2011 Report Posted January 1, 2011 Yea need a bonnet. Left it up for a year or two and the cats love climbing up it, so under all the dust its scratched to shithouse. That and it weighs a freakin tonne! Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted January 5, 2011 Author Report Posted January 5, 2011 Done soem more stripping of the shell as well as rust and bolt hole filling. Quote
Trev Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 Funny thing about this thread is that the body on this thing looks better then half the 86's that have been for sale over the months. Quote
mungi mods Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 it is one of the better ae86s i have seen, just the previous owner did unnecessary damage to it Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted January 27, 2011 Author Report Posted January 27, 2011 Been collecting parts and working on this when I can. I just ordered some new genuine Toyota Handbrake cables for it. Pretty much all the holes the previous owner driller or cut have been closed up, and I've welded up the rust. I really need to find a hatch and bonnet in Brisbane, or I'm going to end up buying carbon ones from Seibon that will cost me $1500. I also picked up a halfcut that I can raid a lot of nitty gritty sort of bts from, the bonnet release cable, vents, underdash bracing etc. Ive got a massive lawnmower box of bits ready to go and be powdercoated, I wonder if the powdercoaters at Langford Metal Industries were flooded out. LittleRedSpirit Posted February 14, 2011 Author Report Posted February 14, 2011 So now have a few more bits to put it back together. I've arranged for it to be painted and paid for that, got new handbrake cables, mirrors, radiator cap, timing belt and tensioner, gasket kit for the t50, diff bung and cam seals. Still need a bonnet, hatch, drivers seat in mooroon, and door trims. Getting there slowly I guess. Quote
Jesseb369 Posted February 19, 2011 Report Posted February 19, 2011 Good stuff. Good to see someone else saving another 86. If its any reflection of your 71, this hachi should be sick! Quote
