the_van_can Posted September 14, 2010 Report Posted September 14, 2010 Hay all, Recently I started getting a high pitch squeeling noise from the waterpump pulley, whenever I spin it manually it has a noise. So I was wondering is there any way to just replace a bearing or do I have to replace the whole pump, if I can just replace a bearing how much work is it, its a smallport 4age. thanks for the help Quote
towe001 Posted September 14, 2010 Report Posted September 14, 2010 The bearing can be replaced, but for the effort of having to use a bearing press and what not. You'll find it easier just to toss the old one over your left shoulder as the new one is getting fitted up. Quote
Trev Posted September 14, 2010 Report Posted September 14, 2010 What towe001 said. The re-kit is a P.I.T.A. Quote
the_van_can Posted September 15, 2010 Author Report Posted September 15, 2010 thanks for the help guys, it's really anoying the pump can't be any more than 8 months old and genuine toyota no doubt it will be a P.I.T.A Quote
DJM1989 Posted September 15, 2010 Report Posted September 15, 2010 hey mate make sure you get a 4age one as they are diffrent to the 4af pumps learnt that the hard way. Quote
the_van_can Posted September 15, 2010 Author Report Posted September 15, 2010 yah thanks I will, I always ended up having a fight with the chick that worked at burson when I said the 4age was from an ae92 she's like u mean ae93 right and I'm like no I don't it's from an ae92 and then she thinks I'm giving her a hard time coz she's a chick in a parts store which has nothing to do with it, ever since then I go to toyota with a helpfull old fella, genuine toyota is USUALLY better anyway. DJM1989 Posted September 15, 2010 Report Posted September 15, 2010 i find it funny when you say to them you want a ae86 4age waterpump. then they ask what car is it in and you say ke70. then they turn around and say the ke70 dosent have a 4age in them. then you say i no thats why i asked for a ae86 water pump then they look at you silly. all so get the same things at the wreckers then they try and tell you that part wont fit. Well she is correct, the parts system will say AE93 as the 100kw 4age was released in the AE92 vin but plated as an AE93. Quote
the_van_can Posted September 15, 2010 Author Report Posted September 15, 2010 Trev your a toyopedia. Yah I gathered it was something like that, I didn't really give her a hard time was just stubborn, for that exact reason when I looked at the car it came out of at the wreckers the vin started with AE92. I ended up just saying yah it's a AE93 because I knew they would have the smallport 4age, just wasnt sure whether the AE93 was a 4agze because I thought some of those ae93's had gze's. Quote

Nah no where near it. I don't know why they did it, only a few of them are like that, there is a post on here from myself and Hiro about the ae92/93. Quote
