September 15, 201016 yr comment_468905 what would i need to put a 13b bridgeport in my 1972 ke25????? Report
September 15, 201016 yr comment_468907 13B to supra gearbox adapter, custom engine mounts, custom trans mounts, custom tailshaft, balls of steel thats the main ones Report
September 15, 201016 yr comment_468908 some money, a 13B bridge port,a ke25, a welder,an angle grinder, some steel, a soldering iron, a philips head and flat head screw driver (both small and large), a socket set, a few spanners,a pair of pliers, a 7mm allan key, rubber and copper mallet, large steel hammer, a hydraulic jack, some skills, and some time. that should cover it. Check out members rides section, theres a few rotary builds in early ke's. start with: custom engine mounts custom gearbox mount custom radiator mounts (your going to need a huge radiator) custom wiring custom tailshaft a bigger diff (if your a heavy foot) some better suspension that will keep you on the road some bigger breaks that will help you stop sam whats wrong with the rotary gearbox? they are pretty damn strong and a relatively cheap. i hear they are a bit large in the transmission tunnell, but people seem to fit them in just fine.(so many DX's in NZ with 13b's) Edited September 15, 201016 yr by ke70dave Report
September 15, 201016 yr comment_468964 oh I have been told they don't fit without mods, so I thought it would just be easier to fit the very cheap adapter plates for the common W55. Report
September 15, 201016 yr comment_468974 An RX4/5 or Gen 1 RX7 5 speed would fit in a 30/55 tunnel, but I don't know about a 25. They'll will handle 13bbp power but don't be suprised if it pops. S4/5 turbo gearbox would be a better choice, or a supra as Sam said. Nice comprehensive list too Dave! Report
September 15, 201016 yr comment_468977 yeah i was playing with a series 1 rx7 gearbox the other day. the outercasing is no bigger than a T50. gbox was pretty long though, but it seems there are MANY differnt combinations of bits you can play with to get the shifter in the right position. rotor boxes seem to have the funky external gear selection mechanism, with rods that go through the casing to the chassis. we were fiddling around with some parts and reckoned we could get the rods cut and re-machined and change the shifter position substantially. main reason we were doing this as I'm looking at a 12a turbo conversion into my car, biggest pain it seems is the shifter position. oh and reason we were playing with the S1 box is that we blew it up behind a 12a turbo. semislicks + drag strip = hell on the poor gearbox. my mate has quite a few rotary gearbox's lying around, so if the OP actually is serious about this i can get some measurements of the casing, then someone can compared them to the K/A/W series box's. btw sam where does one aquire these rotary to W box plates adaptor things? September 15, 201016 yr comment_468984 Should of asked me that question a month ago. I had a S2 5 speed sitting on the shelf next to my K-W50 and could of taken a pic of box next to each other. Have since sold the S2 box. Would have been pretty close in length, maybe only 200mm max extra length in the rotor box. Another thing worth knowing in regards to rotor boxes is you can use an RX4 4 speed bellhousing on a S4/5 turbo box so you can still use the 8.5" RX4 clutch/flywheel instead of the 9.5" turbo clutch. Check ausrotary for a supra bell housing. Report
