LostPrincess Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 (edited) So I'm sitting in my Corolla trying to install a new radio/CD player thing and the wire colours don't match up. I've tried Google-ing for help and the colours on the charts that came up don't match either! I was wondering if anyone could help me?.. Thanks. Car: 1993 Toyota Corolla CSI Limited Radio: Kenwood MOSFET 50WX4 CD player. Wires From Car: light green light green/pink stripe dark purple dark purple/white stripe yellow yellow/white stripe white/black stripe dark green/red stripe blue/yellow stripe Wires from Radio: red black grey grey/black stripe white white/black stripe green green/black stripe purple purple/black stripe blue/white stripe brown (P.S. The CD player came out of my friends smashed Charade so I have no manual or instructions or anything.) Edited September 22, 2010 by LostPrincess Quote
Trev Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 Hi Aimey, I messaged you on the other forum, now that I can see your wiring diagram I would be putting a test light on following to determine earth, ACC power and Batt power: white/black stripe dark green/red stripe blue/yellow stripe If they turn out to be power and earth then get a 9volt or just a remote battery and put them on the other wires in a matching pair (green, green) to identify which speaker is which. ke70dave Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 just becareful what you decide is "earth" something like the ilumination wire will appear to be "earth" if its not turned on, as well as other power wires that don't appear to be +12. i did this in a rushed install in my mates magna, blew the dash light/ilumination fuse and it took me a while to work out what i had done! so best bet, when you think you have found an "earth" turn on a bunch of stuff with your test light still connected to it, and make sure that it is actually earth. or just find a bolt under your dash and attach your earth from your CD player to this. LostPrincess Posted September 23, 2010 Author Report Posted September 23, 2010 Hey everyone, thanks for the help! My little rolla has a working CD/mp3 player now! I was up all night trying to do it and following everyone's advice, and in the end, I took it to my friends Dad (who's an electrician) who said I'd done EVERYTHING correctly, except that one wire had to be spliced into the continuous power wire which connects to the one from the battery. I'm leaving all that electrical stuff to the professionals now... Thanks again for all your help guys, I really appreciate it. :) Quote
