ok does anyone know what the redline is for a stock 3k engine i'm shifting at 4000RPM wondering if that's not to close to redline. and i have bought a water temp gauge so i need to know what temp is

I've got a factory tacho in my KE50, it came with a 3k, and the redline is 6250.

water temp is good betweeb 80 and 90 degrees and a standard k motor has 6000rpm redline.

you are correct, power is under the redline. Where the engine won't break is the redline!

 

I hit 6 grand coming out of the park in Buxton. That was FUN

when i first run in my engine,i wasnt taking it about 4 grand cause it didnt "seam" to like it. now it doesnt like anything more than 5 LOL

 

 

i ripped a skid, had bad axle tramp and it popped outta gear, hit 6500 and DIDNT like it at all. so i said sorry and nicely drove back to work

A stock standard 3K valve bounces at 6.5 to 7K. Keep it under six-ish.

my camry sportivo is like wise to your tacho, the actual redline starts at 6500 but when it gets to 6000 it lights up orange as if to say, "that's enough". She only ever goes there when your bagging it out of the macca's car park.

The owners manual states peek power at 5,500rpm

The factory redline is 6250. It isn't recommended, but the question asked was, "what is the redline"?

 

I usually don't go past 4500.

to keep up with traffic i try to keep it under 3grand till 3rd gear :D

If ya want to get the right, take it to a dyno and hell find out where ur power drops off

i try to limit myself to 6000rpm when going for a 'spirited' drive but there is really no point as my car has nothing after 5000ish. i once took my old 3k to 7000+ rpms, thus i have a new 4k :P

have to agree with above. my mechanic(peter robinson), who is a guru on all things rolla said 6250 was factory redline, and although my 3k motor is balanced and bored out to 1290cc, and he says could safely go higher, it really does nothing after about 6000. A stock motor there would be little joy in going above 5000
