80ke70 Posted November 18, 2010 Report Posted November 18, 2010 Was wondering how hard it would be to use a supercharger/carb setup on my 3tc the supercharger is from a mr2 been looking for someone who has done it but found nothing. Thanks guys Quote
80ke70 Posted November 18, 2010 Author Report Posted November 18, 2010 Another question is i wanna use an electric fan on my 3tc any know what size fan they would use to keep it cool Quote
ninja-philbo Posted November 18, 2010 Report Posted November 18, 2010 12 inch fan. just do a suck threw system will be exacty the same as a suck threw sc setup on a k motor search boss Quote
80ke70 Posted November 18, 2010 Author Report Posted November 18, 2010 doesnt suck threw pull raw gas into the turbo? Quote
ke70dave Posted November 18, 2010 Report Posted November 18, 2010 raw gas? suck through has the carby on the intake of the super/turbo charger. so your turbo is compressing air and fuel. i don't really like the idea....but it does work. Quote
towe001 Posted November 18, 2010 Report Posted November 18, 2010 Makes two of us that don't really like the idea of a draw-through turbocharging. The only good thing about this style of turbo setup is the ease of doing it - just move the carby from near the motor to the other side of the turbo. That is between the air filter and turbo. Nothing else needs to be done, unless you feel like playing around with fuel mixtures to try and get it running even better. Downsides are, or can be, major headaches - lag time between giving the motor a boot full and the motor powering up can be painful at times. Have a google on it. And do the same with "Blow-through turbocharging" Bit harder to setup but its a lot better. Not as good as efi but still better. Quote
towe001 Posted November 18, 2010 Report Posted November 18, 2010 And a quick search http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?app=forums&module=forums§ion=attach&tid=21095 http://www.rollaclub.com/board/topic/21095-supercharged-3t-c-ke30/ Quote
80ke70 Posted November 19, 2010 Author Report Posted November 19, 2010 Ive been looking but still somewhat confused so i build a carb box seal it off turbo before the carb or after? an do i have to use some sort of fuel enrichment with draw through? thanks, James Quote
80ke70 Posted November 19, 2010 Author Report Posted November 19, 2010 Whats the deal with the red circle around it this setup looks easy enough Quote
towe001 Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 Air to water intercooler. Bit more complex to setup but i think the benefits of the setup, on a road/street car, outweigh that of an air to air intercooler setup. Quote
80ke70 Posted November 19, 2010 Author Report Posted November 19, 2010 ok so does that supercharged setup w/o the intercooler work the same with a turbo carb on the inlet intake on the outlet an do i have to use fuel enrichment of some sort of am i good with just a 2 barrel carby Quote
80ke70 Posted November 19, 2010 Author Report Posted November 19, 2010 an i can run an air intercooler on on this draw through setup Quote
80ke70 Posted November 19, 2010 Author Report Posted November 19, 2010 Another thing that has me puzzled is how do you start it when its turned off because the carb is so far from the manifold? an does this setup work the same with a turbo carb on the inlet? Quote
towe001 Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 an i can run an air intercooler on on this draw through setup I didn't even see the carby and its location till now. Having an intercooler like that can be done, but it should not be done. Another thing that has me puzzled is how do you start it when its turned off because the carb is so far from the manifold? an does this setup work the same with a turbo carb on the inlet? Basically winding the motor over till it kicks. Shouldn't take that long cause of the pools of fuel that'll be left behind after the motor is turned off. Think of the amount of fuel and its vapour that'll be sitting in the intercooler just waiting for a nice little backfire or something, it'll be like a bomb. Quote
