Camerona Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 Hey guys, Ive got a Ke70 1983 Sedan, I recently brought it off my cousin but it had been sitting for about a year and ran a couple of times. Was stored under blue tarpolen outside. I have taken the starter motor out and tested it, Thats fine, When I turn the key over theres no response apart from the battery light. My Horn works and so do my hazard lights on the inside but not on the outside. The things that arn't working are: Headlights Breaklights Indicators Window wipers Interior lights Any help would be greatly appreciated! :) Cheers, Cameron Quote
SLW42 Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 checked fuses? Checked relays? Checked bulbs? Quote
altezzaclub Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 Have you tried another battery?? That one might be on it's last legs. Otherwise, as SLW says, go over all the fuses and don't forget the fusible links down on the starter motor. They get crisped by the exhaust manifold and the wires can break inside their plastic sheaths. You might as well get a $10 multimeter from Jaycar to help, you'll need it sooner or later. Here's part of the wiring I drew all over for something I was doing. Quote
Camerona Posted December 16, 2010 Author Report Posted December 16, 2010 (edited) I have tried another battery and there was no luck, Ive checked the fuses and relays and they seem to be working but am waiting for a friend thats good with the electrical stuff to come around and test it all, If anyone could write a list on what to go threw and check first would be greatly appreciated :). I just find it strange how the fuel gauge etc isnt even working? Edited December 16, 2010 by Camerona Quote
altezzaclub Posted December 17, 2010 Report Posted December 17, 2010 Print the wiring diagram as big as you can then mark on it what works and what doesn't. Then trace the not-working wires back to the battery. Somewhere in there a wire is broken or a link blown. Quote
jimmy-d Posted December 17, 2010 Report Posted December 17, 2010 When you turn the ignition on,you say that some things work and some don't,if you turn the ignition to the start position does the battery light on the dash fade to nearly nothing,if so it is probably a battery issue. Are you sure the soleniod on the starter is working, bridge out the terminals and see if that makes any difference. Quote
ke70dave Posted December 17, 2010 Report Posted December 17, 2010 sounds to me like you might be missing an earth. theres a few earths around the engine bay that are bolted to stuff (like rings on bracket bolts) i forgot to put one of these back on once, all hell broke lose, half the indicators working, stuff not working, lights not working, freaked me out, but then i saw the earth and all was well.... so make sure there arnet any stray earths in your engine bay that should be bolted to something. orrr you havent plugged in the main loom from up near your steering wheel. there is to much stuff broken, it must be something simple.
