4K Gearbox To A 3K

hey guys i have a auto ke20 and i want to change it to manual will a 4k box mount straight up and in like a 3k box would?

Yes, although you need to look out for gear stick and mounting positions........and DO NOT forget the spigot bearing, learned from that mistake.

Do you have a 2 speed or a 3 speed at the moment, I know when I did my 3 spd auto to 4 spd manual conversion the tailshaft's splines were different (can't remember if it's bigger or smaller though). Just pull out the drive shaft and check only a 5 minute job, if you do it with the car on an angle (the back higher than the front) the oil won't come out of the G.box.

my trimatic had like 20 something + output slpines. 4/5 speed had 19 if i remember correctly (the auto flange is HUGE compaired to the manual one)

toyoglide is also different to k40.

 

k40 + k50 share the same splines however.

i think the difference is between the auto and the manual output shafts only.

 

presuming you will have this problem also, i suggest you make sure you find the correct tailshaft > diff head stud pattern too as they differ between borgwarner and banjo models.
