Teddy Posted October 1, 2005 Report Posted October 1, 2005 Thanks for the comments, boofis. But, if you want to know about paint stripping or what not, please make a new thread. This one is mainly for updates, and things about the project, not a Q&A topic on panel beating. Quote
boofis Posted October 1, 2005 Author Report Posted October 1, 2005 Wow you're talented with computers lol. Alrighty now it's a separate thread I've got a few questions about stripping the paint, I want to find the best way. Did you just use a paint scraper to get it off? How long roughly did you wait before scraping? Do you apply alot at once, or small amounts bit by bit (on top of each other.) Thanks Quote
Clown Posted October 1, 2005 Report Posted October 1, 2005 Did a mates car at the start of the year. Put stripper on and wait for paint to start bubling and then attack it with scraper. I found the more you use the better it works. We did bits of a panal at a time. Quote
boofis Posted October 1, 2005 Author Report Posted October 1, 2005 LOL. No I've already gotten some on me and not realised it was that then felt a strong burning a few seconds later lol. It's so hard to get odd curves with the paint scraper lol! Thanks Troy Quote
kangaroosa Posted October 1, 2005 Report Posted October 1, 2005 It hurts doesnt it. I paint stripped my car during summer a few years ago. So i was bare foot in shorts and a t-shirt. I used a wire wheel on a drill to get the initial layers of paint off (its also handy for those tricky sections that a scrpaer will not get to. Needless to say the wire wheel threw paint stripper everywhere (mostly on me). I had a bucket of water handy to wash off the bits that were burning real bad. I would suggest using overalls and goggles for this method. Quote
Clown Posted October 1, 2005 Report Posted October 1, 2005 haha i remember standing there working away thinking "why is my arm burning", looked down and theres a huge blob of paint stripper on my arm. Quote
boofis Posted October 1, 2005 Author Report Posted October 1, 2005 LOL. Man, you guys and safety ey. I get the big rubber gloves and labcoat out  It's a good look really, especially walking across the road with a can of chemical stripper lol. But yeah, that shite burns. Thanks Troy Quote
