jaygore Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 Hi guys, Over the last 2 years I have had multiple health issues and was diagnosed with Crohns disease. Over that last 3 or so months I have been in and out of hospital, rapid weight loss and overall feeling like rubbish. I have multiple tests and all have shown evidence of crohns disease. But i go back and the doc decides to change there mind and say I am fine and that they cannot find anything... So they keep changing there mind. I had an appointment today and now they have put me in the 'Too Hard' Basket and are sending me to Melbourne Royal. Honestly I'm over this, being pumped with these steroids which make me feel extremely crook, and strong pain killers (which i now have an addiction to) and I'm not getting any better and I'm getting worse??? anyway thats my rant for now =[ Quote
altezzaclub Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 Ah you poor bastard! You have gone past the end of Western Medicine's understanding of the body so they really don't have a clue, like my wife's Graves Desease. Latest thing I read was that some tapeworms stop the Crohn's symptoms as they cause the gut to secrete mucus as it tries to get rid of the worms. Also the total lack of understanding of human microbiology has been shown up here in this link... only 1% of the bacteria present actually grow on lab petri dishes and the human body has bacteria inside it's cells that modify our cell functions. They traced bacteria using DNA/RNA techniques to identify them. http://autoimmunityresearch.org/preprints/Proal_MHB_Chapter_preprint.pdf Search for Crohns in that pdf and you'll have to learn some microbiology I'm afraid. There's a very depressing diaram that links all sorts of autoimmune conditions to each other. Good luck with it Jamie. Quote
jaygore Posted January 20, 2011 Author Report Posted January 20, 2011 Cheers mate, I will definitely have a god read of that when I get home tonight, as I am at work at the moment. But the thing that puzzles me is how they find the evidence, then back pedal and say I'm fine... Its as if they are over worked and have too many patients and are pushing them all out the door... The other thing is al our specialists for crohns have retired in ballarat, which is one of the other reasons why they are sending me down to melbourne. I am just glad that work is soo understanding. Makes it that little bit less stressful Quote
ke70dave Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 unfortunately as smart as our brains are, we are only just touching the surface of understanding how the human body works. On one hand its amazing to think how advanced it is, but on the other hand its sad when you hear about these deseases that have doctors baffled. good luck with it mate, stay strong, good will come out of it all! jaygore Posted January 20, 2011 Author Report Posted January 20, 2011 cheers mate. I think the hardest thing is feeling like absolute rubbish and not knowing why. Some days are just really hard on me as I am just constantly tired and worn out yet I sleep more than enough, but not too much. Then there is the feeling sick and massive weight loss and weight gain and weight loss and so on. The sad thing about it all is I have just started to accept that this is life for me now, I have kind of forgotten what it is like to be full of energy. On a good note, I am on endone hahaha! And now I have an addiction to it, so when they take me off it I am going to be one person you will not want to be around hahaha Quote
altezzaclub Posted January 21, 2011 Report Posted January 21, 2011 hhmmmm.... Oxycodone may impair the mental and/or physical abilities required for the performance of potentially hazardous tasks such as driving a car or operating machinery. and don't get pregnant while you're taking it! :laff: You could always sell any leftover pills I'm sure!
