When you pulled out the lca's and struts did you do them as a complete unit or separate them at the steering arms ?

Cause if you've separated them its possible that you've used the left lca on the right and vice verse.

9 times out of 10 its always something simple.

What difference would it make?

Ye thought that both lcas would be the same, I know what you mean with the steering arms nearly put mine on the wrong way cause I got T3 ones now but just looked at the old ones that have a L and R on them.

Yeah i thought about that too, checked them and there on the same way they came off, i seperated the struts off the lca's and the steering arms are pointing backwards i.e. the way they should be so i can't have put the lca's on the wrong way round but i'll double check it anyways cheers, if i have to i'll just go get longer rack ends and put it together, get a lock spacer and be done with it.

I just don't understand how it could do it though grrrrrrrrrrrr :bash:

Having a look in a catalogue for PAJA steering and it looks like there's two different tie-rods for the ke70

The ke70 van uses - TE489L (both sides left and right)

Whereas the rest (ke70, ae71) uses - TE3676R (both sides left and right)

But the rackends for both are the same RE862

Maybe you've used the wrong tie-rods.....

Well, that didn't work as planned.

I went out to my thing cause it uses the same outside tie-rods (TE489L) and i was going to measure them and thats about when i realised that TE3676R is female not male :blinks:

Might have to climb back under the cars and measure the distance where the lca's bolt up to the cross-member of each car.

sounds like left n right lcas are on the wrong side of the car.....

check again ...

they are not the same , and the steering arm can be rotated 180 degrees so would look correct

Yeah i'll double and tripple check again terry cheers for the idea,

I was gonna get under it yesterday but it decided to piss down with rain >|

If it is just the lca's around the wrong way i'll hit myself in the head for everybody who has helped out,

I'm also looking for some longer lca's too so i might just get some new rack ends aswell, anybody got some xt130's or sigmas for sale??

So yeah i'll let everybody know how it goes later today :D

Well who wants to slap me????? i had the lca's around the wrong way :bash: palm-forehead....... :bash: :bash:

Mid way through swapping the lca's over the car slipped off the jack and having both wheels off and one wheel under middle of the crossmember, it missed the wheel and landed the strut on my hand :( , I had my fingers on the edge of the dust cover and the car landed on the jack/struts >| , out came the hammer after i yelled at my brother to come take some weight of the car so i could get my hand out, it has afew more dents then it did when i started :)

Cheers to everyone that has thrown ideas at me over the past few days it's been a great help :y:

Jake, the difference is the angle's the steering arm is on when it's the right way round (if you can imagine a steering arm the right way round, the hole were the tie rod end goes through is just slightly behind were the strut bolts to the lca and when you flip it 180 degrees it sits slightly infront of were the struts bolt together,

And were the castor arm bolts into is different, they are quite a particular thing ye old LCA

Yeah i was really lucky it didn't take the end of my fingers off, i would normally have used jack stands but they are under my old slanty front atm, so i thought i would be atleast sort of safe with a wheel under the crossmember, i mean you have 13inches of rim and then a 70profile tire and it managed to not catch any of the rim or tire WTF :laff:
