scottiriver Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 hello everyone. i am / have purchased a ke70 5speed box for my ke70 my current diff is getting old and making noises, when the five speed goes in, do i need to change the axel to one with a different ratio? cheers scott Quote
scottiriver Posted February 20, 2011 Author Report Posted February 20, 2011 but will the fifth gear be worthwhile? what will the rpm be at 100km/h? Quote
tojo2 Posted February 20, 2011 Report Posted February 20, 2011 but will the fifth gear be worthwhile? what will the rpm be at 100km/h? Definatly worthwile if you want to reduce highway revs. Multiply whatever revs you had before in 4th by 0.865 and you got your answer Quote
altezzaclub Posted February 20, 2011 Report Posted February 20, 2011 Its only a few hundred revs at 100kph, but it is very worthwhile, knocking it from 3500 back to just over 3000 on my auto diff. If you come to a hill dropping it down to 4th at 3000rpm usually runs it over the hill without dropping any more speed. I'd like the manual's 4.1 instead of the auto's 4.3, but this diff is in great condition so I can't justify the cost of changing it. Every KE70 should have had one! Quote
