joshy123 Posted March 30, 2011 Report Posted March 30, 2011 My ke70 wont idle it just stalls streight away, Ive changed spark plugs, Leads, fuel pump, Manifold and exhaust gasket what else could it be?? I have looked into the carby while running and only one side of the carby was pissing out fuel are both sides ment to go?? Quote
FOOMAN Posted March 30, 2011 Report Posted March 30, 2011 check your vaccum pipes and air intake, too much air is coming in by the sounds of it Quote
joshy123 Posted March 30, 2011 Author Report Posted March 30, 2011 Also theres oil where the spark plugs go guess thats not normal ? Quote
19914afc Posted March 30, 2011 Report Posted March 30, 2011 You mean like there is oil over the plug leads when you pull them off the plugs? if so that would most likely be the seals, mine are leaking on my engine too, couldn't get new ones anymore so just got some sealant and put a bit of that on the old seals, still leaks a tiny bit but not as much as before. Also stalling could be air leak, spray water or carby cleaner around the intake manifold and carby base, if you use water it will make the engine die if there is a air leak and if you use carby cleaner the engine revs will rise. Failing that could just be split/torn/loose vacuum lines, check them all, if thats the problem just go and get some more, not too expensive. Quote

Ive just changed the intake manifold and no different, I'm starting to think its a carby jet blocked, inside the carby theres 2 butterflys ones got fuel coming out but other one doesnt blocked or normal?? Quote
Twinky Posted March 30, 2011 Report Posted March 30, 2011 It's normal for one butterfly to be closed while idling. It opens up when you move the throttle up for hight speed. Quote
ke70dave Posted March 30, 2011 Report Posted March 30, 2011 get some carby cleaner, go nuts. maybe the idle jet/circuit (whatever controls the idle in a carby...) is blocked etc. least then you know everything is clean to start with. does it drive fine? Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted March 30, 2011 Report Posted March 30, 2011 Clean the carb. Use copious amounts of carby cleaner, spray some in and let it soak, then start or crank the car and once it pops and fires and begins to run, cover the hole on top of the carb almost all the way to give a tonne of vacuum and try to suck all the grit and dirt out and through the motor to get rid of it. Once you do this, the car will tend to stall. Wind in the idle and mixture screws and reset them to the factory positions in the manual. There are a certain number of turns from fully closed to set it to and see if that idles then. It should be better, unless you have other issues. If its idling high its getting extra air in there from somewhere, most likely a crack or vacuum leak in the inlet. If it keeps running when it is turned off its probably got a coked up combustion chamber which is easily fixable by spraying about a litre of water vapour through the carb slowly with an ironing sprayer while the car is running, it will stuble a bit but just don't put so much in at one time that it stalls. This is a great trick for cleaning the inside of the motor, similar idea to how water injection keeps everything clean. Rev it as you do it so it wont stall and it will blow a lot of crap out of the exhaust as it does it. Quote
Twinky Posted March 31, 2011 Report Posted March 31, 2011 Also check the float level as a flooded bowl will cause it to idle rough/not at all. Quote
