hi guys new on the site but am loving already.

i just have a problem thats startin to give me the shits so i thought who better to ask

my problem is i have a 1982 ke70 running a stock carbie ( though all emision stuff has been removed) just vacadvance is hooked up

and when i accelerate it runs fine to 4k then sounds like vtec kicked in ( sorry ex honda man ) but realy does and then its dies in power

like its slowing down until i hop off pedal the bring it under 4k.so no power at all between 4k to 6k just noise deep induction noise.

my timing is at 10deg

i have replaced fuel pump ( no diff )

i have swaped carbies to one i know works ( no difff )

set pionts ( no diff )

firing order is sweet

starts overrated every time but just has me stumped any help is grately appricated chaps

I had this problem when I supercharged my KE70 4k, I just worked around it. :) If I tried to flat stick floor it, it would lag and try to stall. So I just dropped the accelerator halfway then about 1 second later I could drop it flat stick.

has anyone ever stuffed with the cam timing?

maybe the cam timing is out?

if you have checked all of things you have said, might have to start looking at fundamental problems.

i had my 4age cam timing out for a few months, i thought the epic induction roar was normal.

i thought the epic induction roar was normal.

Interesting point. But would that cause issues with the exaust note also? Like epic back firing

nah if its only out by 1 tooth it can still run fine, just it will sound different.

i was out by 1 tooth on each cam on the 4age, so a fair bit, and it still ran.

needless to say it ran alot better once i fixed it up!

I'm not saying this is the problem, but something to consider perhaps.
