Ke70 Corolla

Featured Replies

I'm wanting to fit 17x7 rims with 245 tyre under the front of my ke70.they fit under the rear of it ok due to i have flared the rear wheel arches out but getting them under the front is proving quit difficult due to they are fouling on the upper of the shocker arm.I'm unsure what brand of replacement shocker would b best suited or whether i should just make sum to suit???? i have got a set of front ford au tickford shockers dat look as though they are small enough and i can make work but I'm a bit optimistic.the only other way i can think of goin about it is wheel spacers which I'm not really that keen on.any info on the topic would be greately appreciated

cheers

the OD of the ford shocks are smaller than the original corolla shocks so it will give extra clearance to allow for the wheels.whether they are illegal or not doesn matter due to its a skid car so dat don't matter but i don't really like the idea of using them incase they snap or something else crazy

i don't understand how you are going to use these ford shocks?

since ke's use a shock insert inside the shock tube/body.

and the shock tube/body is attached to your stubb axel...

i had dramas with the ke70 standard front end trying to fit 15x7 + 20, hit the strut as well. quite annoying.

Prob easier to get some 15's with good offset. Easier to skid too.

^thank god the dude didnt talk me into +20's like he was trying!

I have 15x7 +5 with 195/50's and they are pretty close.

Sounds like you hav a plan so go ahead and try.You asked the question and got the best advice from people who know so I don't think there is much more left for anyone to say accept hope it works for you!

yeah well we all know that plans sound good but whether they work or not is nother thing.i asked the question to see if anyone else could come up with any other ideas and the others are good ideas, and i hope other ideas will follow that could assist in helping me. instead of having a crack how about u come up with some nifty idea to help as well, seems as though your the man of knowledge, how about sharing it instead of acting lik a stem aye

I'm with blz, I'd sell the 17s and buy some different size and/or offset wheels. Then you can get your car lower :y:. But it's up to you really, I guess it depends how much the wheel was fouling on the strut as to what you could do to fix it, you could try spacers or I recall hearing about a certain toyota strut that has a different angle between the stub axle and the strut body( I don't know what this angle is called, I'm not even sure if it would be helpful at all and I'm not sure what the strut was out of, but someone might know what I'm talking about and could point out if this different angle would change anything), that might give you a bit more room to get the wheel in there, but you'd get positive camber or something. But it would depend how much more room the wheel needed before it cleared the strut. Does that even make sense?

And i don't think Jimmy-D was having a crack at you, to me he sounds like he's supporting your idea of having a go at getting the ford strut in there

the angle you are refering to is the king pin inclination. but you don't want to go stuffing with that.

sounds to me that the wheels just don't fit the car.

just because something is free doesn't mean you should use it!

(i have to keep telling myself this...)

If it's a drift car only, just buy a spacer, reality is that they're fine if fitted properly (ie enough stud length, not excessively large etc). They are not road legal, that is all, but it's a very simple fix to the problem.

Goodluck getting the ford struts in there, if you went S13 silvia front suspension you would be able to run more positive offset wheels, but like most people said just sell those wheels if they are brand new and get some smaller different offset wheels.

PM sent to young buk, hope he now understands my comments,no put downs or nothing derogatory meant-as stated,if he can do it,good, innovation helps all of us!!
