Just a small quote i found while searching for body panels on the net, thought it was pretty interesting ! sorry if this has been posted before.. funny how people call most toyota's "rice"

The Toyota logo is comprised of three ellipses, representing the heart of the customer, the heart of the product, and the ever expanding technological advancements and opportunities that lie ahead. Another interpretation is that it represents the three interlocking aspects of the culture of the company - freedom, team spirit, and progress. Also, in Japanese 'Toyo' means an abundance of, and 'ta' is rice. In some Asian cultures, those blessed with an abundance of rice are believe to be blessed with great wealth.

Toyota may translate to that, but it’s not the reason behind the name of the company – it’s named after the founder Sakichi Toyoda, but was changed to Toyota because of several reasons, including pronunciation as well as the number of strokes it took to write in Katakana (the classic REQ logo) was considered lucky)

Exactly, if whoever posted that new anything about toyota history they would know that. I had to sit through a 2 hour toyota history video as part of work when I started there haha.
